Original job description

Environmental Facilitator

High Prairie, Alberta

Our Environmental Facilitators play a critical role in protecting our people, our operations, and the environment. In this hands‑on, impactful role, you’ll lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of environmental programs across our High Prairie, Alberta division. You’ll ensure our operations not only meet - but exceed - federal and provincial environmental regulations, Tolko policies, and industry best practices, helping drive responsible, sustainable operations today and for generations to come. Looking for a chance to work in a world-class Oriented Strand Board (OSB) facility and make a real difference? Keep reading to learn more about this exciting opportunity!

We’re looking for an Environmental Facilitator to join our High Prairie OSB Division, located in High Prairie, Alberta. Our mill has undergone an exciting major rebuild and modernization including the commissioning of a new continuous press, making us one of the most modern mills in North America.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

A degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
Work experience at an industrial facility will be an asset.
Ability to interpret environmental regulations, guidelines, and standards.
Self-motivated and results-oriented with a desire to learn and innovate.
Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as part of a team to successfully achieve strategic goals.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, meet regulatory and reporting deadlines, and coordinate activities with others.
Proven time management skills, with the ability to plan work, meet competing deadlines, and adapt to shifting operational priorities.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, particularly technical writing.
Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy in environmental data collection, record keeping, and regulatory reporting.
Proficient use of various office-based software.

We value diversity at Tolko and know that experience and knowledge comes in many forms. Even if you don't have all the qualifications above, please apply. We would love to hear your story and have you grow with us.

In this role, you will:

Coordinate and complete activities related to the collection, assessment, and reporting of environmental monitoring data. This includes requirements associated with the divisions’ surface water, groundwater, soil, and air monitoring programs.
Provide guidance and develop employee education on environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
Complete routine audits to ensure environmental compliance and facilitate corrective actions as required.
Support the preparation of various reports.
Evaluate and improve environmental monitoring programs. This can include procedure updates, standard operating plan development, and/or equipment improvements.
Coordinate and support contracted work as required.

So, what’s in it for you?

You’ll take on an exciting new challenge with supportive team members.
You’ll earn a competitive salary based on your skills and experience. The expected base salary range for this position is $80,250 to $107,000 per year.
You'll earn an additional payment on top of your base pay.
You will be eligible to participate in Tolko’s bonus program.
You’ll be eligible for excellent benefits and access to our retirement plans, so you don’t have to choose between your bottom line and your wellbeing or your future.
You may also be eligible for relocation support including community connections so you can live (and play) where you work.
You’ll be supported in continued development through on-the-job and classroom training and reimbursement of tuition and membership fees.
You’ll be part of a positive, innovative, and inclusive work environment.
