System Administrator (SAP-SQL)

Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced System Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise systems, with a primary focus on Microsoft SQL Server and SAP. The successful candidate will keep our business-critical systems available, secure, and performing well, and will work closely with operations, finance, and supply chain teams to support day-to-day business processes.
Key Responsibilities
SQL Server administration
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances in production, test, and development environments.
Monitor database performance, tune queries and indexes, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Design, implement, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Manage high-availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, or log shipping.
Enforce database security, including user access, roles, permissions, and auditing.
Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, jobs, and SSRS reports.
SAP administration and support
Administer and support SAP environments, including installation, upgrades, patches, and add-ons.
Manage SAP users, authorizations, and licenses.
Monitor system health, background jobs, and interfaces, and resolve SQL related issues.
Work with business users and functional consultants to troubleshoot problems and implement system changes.
Support integrations between SAP and other business applications.
IT Operations
Familiar with Windows Server environments that host SQL Server and SAP workloads, including virtualized environments (VMware or Hyper-V).
Apply operating system and application patches following change management procedures.
Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration records.
Take part in capacity planning, system upgrades, and IT projects.
Provide second- and third-level support and participate in an on-call rotation when required.
IT compliance
Familiar with best practices across servers, databases, and applications.
Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with company policies.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role.
Deep knowledge and hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability.
Hands-on experience in SAP
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical staff.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle multiple tasks.
Assets (Preferred Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or a relevant IT diploma.
Knowledge of or experience with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) processes, such as setting up, monitoring, and troubleshooting EDI transactions with customers and suppliers.
Experience working in the industrial or manufacturing sector.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified, SAP certifications).
