Title: Software Developer – Intermediate (Java)
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Work model: Onsite, 5 days per week
Engagement: Contract
Duration: 4 months, with possible extension
Rate: CAD $50/hour

About the opportunity
- Our client is looking for an intermediate Java developer to build and support large-scale web applications used by many clients. You will work across the full development life cycle, from specification to deployment and support.
- This is a hands-on role combining Java and database development with REST services, testing, and troubleshooting. You will work closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and other technical teams in an Agile environment.
What you'll do
- Turn technical specifications into tested applications: write programming specs, code, data-driven programs, and unit tests.
- Design, develop, debug, document, deploy, and maintain web applications and integrations.
- Build and maintain REST APIs and web services.
- Apply microservice architecture, secure integration, object-oriented design, and clean-code practices.
- Troubleshoot software issues and support implementation, conversion, migration, and post-launch activities.
- Work in Agile teams and use Azure DevOps for delivery.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technical teams across the development life cycle.
What you must have
- 5+ years designing and developing large-scale, multi-client web applications.
- 5+ years of hands-on Java development with Oracle or SQL databases.
- 2+ years of hands-on REST API or RESTful web services development.
- Experience using Azure DevOps.
Nice to have
- Previous work in the Ontario public sector.
- Oracle E-Business Suite customizations and extensions, including Accounts Receivable or Collections conversions.
- Knowledge of Oracle EBS modules: GL, AR, Collections, AP, Inventory, and FND.
- PL/SQL, XML, Unix shell scripting, and SQL tuning, including partitioned tables.
- Oracle Data Integrator, ETL, data warehousing, OBIEE, or Oracle ADF.
- Security standards such as JWT, OAuth 2.0, and SSL certificates.
- Experience with relational and hierarchical databases, design patterns, and refactoring.
- Knowledge of rapid application development, information management, middleware, and gateways.
- Familiarity with AODA accessibility standards.
