Licensed Millwright (433A)

Food Manufacturing | Niagara Region, Ontario

Full-Time, Permanent

Pay: $44.72/hr

Schedule: Days / Afternoons, no nights

Retirement: Company pension

Licence: 433A required

If you're a licensed Millwright who wants steady work, a real pension and no night shifts, this one is worth a look.

Our client is one of Canada's leading food manufacturers, a well-known national brand running a high-volume production facility in the Niagara Region. They're adding a licensed Millwright to their maintenance team.

You'll work on everything from high-speed packaging lines to processing equipment and plant utilities, on a two-shift rotation with a team that takes preventative maintenance seriously.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Daily preventative maintenance on processing equipment, high-speed packaging equipment and ancillary systems
  • Troubleshooting and repairing production equipment as issues come up, keeping lines running
  • Inspecting machinery to catch irregularities before they turn into downtime
  • Dismantling, installing, repairing and testing mechanical equipment, including new installations and construction projects
  • Keeping the team informed on downtime, parts and material needs, manpower and uptime
  • Documenting completed work accurately
  • Working to GMP, food safety, health and safety, and environmental standards

What You Bring

  • Ontario 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification (required)
  • At least 1 year of experience working as a licensed Millwright
  • Strong troubleshooting and preventative maintenance skills
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and drawings
  • Comfortable working on your own or as part of a crew
  • A drive to keep learning and take on every part of the job

Bonus points for

  • Experience with SAP or another maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Plant utilities experience: HVAC, low pressure boiler, glycol chiller, compressors

Schedule

Rotating days and afternoons. No nights.

  • Days: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • Afternoons: 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm (Shift Premium added) (may run later depending on production)
  • Weekends as needed.

Pay And Benefits

  • $44.72 per hour, roughly $93,000 a year on base hours before any overtime
  • Overtime paid after 8 hours
  • Company pension plan
  • Extended health, dental and vision coverage
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Paid time off
  • On-site parking

Why people take a second look at this one

  • A pension. Fewer and fewer employers still offer one.
  • Stability. People keep buying groceries in every economy, so food production holds steady when other sectors slow down.
  • Variety. High-speed packaging, processing equipment, utilities and new installs all in one role, which keeps your skills sharp.
  • Home at a reasonable hour. Two-shift rotation, no graveyard.
