Original job description

Location: Welland, ON

Reports to: Production Manager

Schedule: 12-hour continental rotating shift

Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000

About The Company

For more than 60 years, this well established facility has been turning recycled scrap steel into precision-engineered products at plants around the world. The Welland facility is a key site in that global network, and they're looking for a Production Shift Supervisor who can run the floor, keep people safe, and keep product moving out the door. This is a hands-on leadership role. If you've come up through a melt shop, press, or packaging operation and you're ready to lead a team rather than work on one, it's worth a conversation.

The Role

You'll supervise hourly employees across melt, processing, packaging, and shipping on a rotating continental shift. Day to day, that means:

Enforcing health and safety procedures and legislation on your shift, and stopping any work that isn't safe
Keeping production flowing efficiently while hitting quality standards and customer deadlines
Coaching your team on correct procedures, training new employees, managing performance, and administering the collective agreement with your unionized crew
Coordinating with maintenance, quality, purchasing, accounting, sales, and HR to keep everyone aligned
Keeping accurate production and tonnage records and handing off a clean, well-communicated shift to the relief supervisor and logistics team
Ensuring your work areas comply with environmental policies and legislation, and raising problems before they grow

What We're Looking For

3–5 years in a production supervisory role
Health and safety training, with a working knowledge of safety legislation and industry best practices
Comfortable with production scheduling and planning
Solid Excel and Word skills, and confident basic math
Someone who communicates just as easily with hourly employees as with senior leadership
High school diploma required; post-secondary education is an asset

Experience in steel production (melt shop, foundry, or heavy metals manufacturing) and a track record managing a unionized workforce will put you at the top of the list.

Why Consider It:

This is a stable, global company with a real commitment to sustainable manufacturing, and a fast-paced floor where your decisions matter every shift. Strong supervisors here have room to grow.

Interested? Apply today, or reach out for a confidential conversation.

Commitment to Inclusion

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds can thrive. Diversity of thought, experience, and perspective is valued, and accessibility accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process. Should you require accommodation, please let us know, and we will work with you to meet your needs.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Use of Artificial Intelligence by Top Tier Talent Group

Top Tier Talent Group may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support limited administrative and screening-related functions during the recruitment process. This may include assisting with resume screening, summarizing candidate information, drafting outreach messages, or organizing application details.

AI is never used as the sole basis for hiring decisions. All candidate information is reviewed by a member of the Top Tier Talent Group team, and hiring recommendations are made with human judgment, care, and professional expertise. Our goal is to use technology responsibly while maintaining fairness, transparency, and respect throughout the recruitment process.

Use of Artificial Intelligence by Candidates

We recognize that candidates may use AI tools to support their job search, such as refining writing style, preparing application materials, or conducting research. While this can be appropriate, all information provided in resumes, screening questions, and interviews must be truthful and accurately reflect your own experience, knowledge, and competencies.

AI should never be used to create or exaggerate credentials, experience, or qualifications. Our goal is to understand the real you, your skills, your story, and your potential, so we can make the best possible match between you and the organization we serve.
