About Us:

Tophat HR is a boutique consulting firm- We are an expert in tailored and comprehensive human resources consulting & management services.

About our Client and the Company:

Our client is an early-stage Canadian startup building a national platform designed to strengthen the relationship between consumers and local businesses.

Our focus is on helping businesses increase their visibility, build stronger community connections, and participate in programs that create meaningful long-term engagement with their customers.

As they grow, we are building an on-the-ground team that will introduce the platform directly to businesses and help establish relationships within local communities.

About the Role:

They are looking for an outgoing, reliable, and confident Field Business Development Representative to join their growing team.

This is a highly people-focused role. You will spend much of your day visiting local businesses in person, speaking with business owners and staff, introducing their platform and current initiatives, and helping interested businesses get involved.

You will be one of the first direct points of contact many businesses have with the company, so professionalism, communication, and the ability to build trust quickly are extremely important.

This is not a traditional desk job. We are looking for someone who enjoys being out in the community, meeting new people, having conversations, and helping build something from the ground up.

What You'll Do:

Visit local businesses throughout assigned neighborhoods and areas.
Introduce the company and its programs in a friendly, clear, and professional way.
Start conversations with business owners, managers, and staff.
Explain participation opportunities and answer common questions.
Help interested businesses complete simple onboarding or registration steps.
Distribute and explain marketing materials, QR codes, signage, and other field collateral.
Collect accurate business and contact information.
Build positive relationships with businesses for future engagement.
Listen to feedback, questions, and concerns from business owners and report insights back to the internal team.
Track visits, conversations, sign-ups, follow-ups, and other field activity.
Work closely with another field team member and the internal team to achieve daily and weekly goals.
Represent the company professionally in every interaction.
Escalate questions or situations to the internal team when additional information or support is required.

Comfortable spending much of the workday walking, travelling between businesses, and working in the field.
Adaptable and excited about working in a startup environment where processes will continue to evolve.
