About The Office Of The Registrar
The Office of the Registrar (RO) contributes to Toronto Metropolitan University’s bold vision by providing the bedrock of innovative systems and structures required to build a world-leading institution. Every member of the university community is an RO client. The RO is involved in the entire academic experience of the student body from admission through to graduation, providing reliable support through a wide range of services and safeguarding the integrity of the university’s policies and student records. We provide expert guidance to academic leaders regarding student recruitment, admissions,
student financial services, student fees, new programming initiatives, transfer credit, course offerings, grading processes, scheduling, academic policy and curriculum management.
The Opportunity
Are you an experienced IT systems leader with a deep understanding of complex administrative environments? Do you excel at collaborating across departments to implement technology solutions that support student success and academic excellence? Toronto Metropolitan University is searching for an Assistant Director, Business Systems to lead critical IT initiatives within our Registrar's Office.
The Assistant Director, Business Systems will ensure the provision of reliable systems support, leads complex IT systems projects and identifies strategic project priorities for the Registrar’s Office. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with units within the Registrar’s Office, The Yeates School of Graduate Studies, The Chang School of Continuing Education, the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, the School of Medicine and the Academic community, to address student administrative systems and related service issues in a manner that supports the mission of the University and the Academic Plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs the support and enhancement of the systems managed by the Registrar’s Office.
- Proactively examines existing systems, policies and procedures, to analyze issues and challenges, and to formulate recommendations for system enhancements and changes that support the University’s goals and objectives.
- Directs the provision of quality first tier support for systems managed by the Registrar’s Office, Services are provided in conjunction with CCS.
Qualifications
To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field; project management certification is an asset;
- Minimum of 8-10 years administrative experience in a university environment, including minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership and management capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Ontario, Canadian and International post-secondary systems.
- Detailed knowledge of University programs, policies, systems and procedures.
- Strong research, analytical, evaluative and writing skills to support decisions, produce reports, manuals, etc.
- Ability to work in an independent and a team mode.
- Strong advising / counselling skills as well as negotiating skills.
- Strong leadership, supervisory and people management skills, effective time-management skills. Excellent verbal, written, presentation and public speaking communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-confidence and poise to deal effectively with different community members representing diverse backgrounds, interests, personalities and requirements.
- Knowledge of end user computing tools, e.g. databases, SQL, VISIO as well as office productivity tools e.g. Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, especially as they relate to technical/IT systems projects.
- Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
