The team

Telling the Toronto Metropolitan University story - that is the role of the Marketing and Communications team. Working with partners inside and outside the university to enhance the profile and reputation of TMU. Our goal is to create high-quality, compelling marketing and communications solutions that support the TMU brand and enhance its reputation to influence decisions that students, faculty, donors,partners, alumni and staff make about connecting with us.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Videography leads the planning, production, and delivery of high-quality video content that advances the University's brand, marketing, and communications objectives.
Oversees the full video production process, from ideation and storyboarding through to final delivery, ensuring all content reflects brand standards and tells compelling stories.
Provides hands-on support in shooting, editing, and production for video projects.
Translates marketing requirements into cinematic, story-driven, and technically sound creative solutions, working closely with internal stakeholders, senior executives, creative teams, and external production partners to deliver impactful content across platforms and channels.
Leads and inspires the video, photography, producer, and digital asset coordinator staff, and manages day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

Leads the planning, shooting, editing, and delivery of video content for a wide range of projects including brand campaigns, social media, events, testimonials, and promotional materials.
Supports the ideation of concepts and storyboards in collaboration with the creative team to ensure video content aligns with brand and campaign objectives.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders across the University to understand video needs and translate them into compelling visual stories, manages multiple video production projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met and develops project timelines, production schedules, and status reports for all active video projects.
Oversees the management, maintenance, and inventory of all videography equipment including cameras, lighting, audio, and editing hardware and software, including identifying departmental equipment needs, evaluates available options, and negotiates pricing for the purchasing or rental of new equipment.
Ensures all video content adheres to the University's brand guidelines, visual identity standards, and accessibility requirements, including, reviewing and approving all video outputs before final delivery to ensure quality and brand consistency.
Manages and supervises video, photography, producer and digital asset coordinator staff workflow including full-time, part-time, freelance, and agency resources, assigns and prioritizes tasks, establishes goals, sets expectations and evaluates performance.

Qualifications

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter, resume and portfolio describing how you meet the following required qualifications:

Five (5) or more years of direct experience in an agency, marketing, branded communications, or similar creative environment.
Completion of a post-secondary degree program in film, film studies, graphic design, multimedia design, visual communications, communications studies, media production, or related field is required.
Technical expertise in film, video, or advertising production, including video, animation, motion graphics, audio and lighting.
Experience on multiple film sets, working with directors, production teams and talent.
Experience supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
Strong knowledge of video, motion graphics, design, layout, composition and colour.
Ability to integrate approved brand elements and ensure all creative content reinforces the brand.
Advanced proficiency in Final Cut Pro, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Captivate, Dreamweaver, Cinema 4D, 3D Studio Max, Xpression, Flash, HTML/CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery, with the ability to streamline design variables to maximize output.
Solid understanding of video, audio, and new media production, including digital video and audio systems, still photography, and computer-generated imagery and animation.
Excellent communication skills and a strong client-service focus.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners, collaborate across departments, and coordinate with vendors.
