The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), North America's third largest transit system and recognized as one of the top places to work in the GTA has introduced its new 2024-2028 TTC Corporate Plan - Moving Toronto, Connecting Communities which continues the TTC’s legacy of delivering service to hundreds of millions of customers a year. The TTC’s new vision and mission statements also help promote the many environmental, social equity and economic benefits that the TTC provides:

Vision: Moving Toronto towards a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future.

Mission: To serve the needs of transit riders by providing a safe, reliable, efficient, and accessible mass public transit service through a seamless integrated network to create access to opportunity for everyone.

The full Plan can be viewed on ttc.ca.

Career Opportunity

Looking to play a direct role in shaping development around one of North America's largest transit systems? Join the TTC and help protect critical transit infrastructure, influence city-building initiatives, and ensure development projects adjacent to TTC properties support safe, sustainable, and successful transit operations in the role of a Development Coordinator.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will coordinate and manage the review of development applications and property transactions that impact TTC lands, infrastructure, and property rights. Acting as a key liaison between developers, consultants, legal representatives, municipal partners, and TTC departments, you will help ensure that developments adjacent to TTC facilities are designed and constructed in a manner that protects TTC operations, assets, and future growth plans.

You will lead the coordination of internal reviews for development proposals, including conceptual, architectural, and engineering plans, working closely with Design Engineering and other TTC stakeholders to identify risks, address concerns, and ensure compliance with TTC standards, policies, and operational requirements.

The successful incumbent will manage negotiations from the early planning stages through to the execution of agreements, ensuring developers and stakeholders understand and address TTC requirements. You will negotiate and administer a variety of agreements, including construction, operating and maintenance, easement, encroachment, lease, entrance connection, and property-related agreements.

You will serve as a central point of coordination for stakeholders, helping to resolve conflicts, identify critical risks, and focus efforts on issues that could impact project delivery, transit operations, or infrastructure protection. You will prioritize competing issues, provide timely responses, and apply sound judgement when navigating complex planning, development, legal, and technical matters.

You will review development proposals in close proximity to subway stations, tunnels, transit facilities, and other TTC assets to ensure compliance with the TTC's Developer's Guide, applicable planning policies, engineering requirements, and operating standards. You will also respond to inquiries regarding property rights, easements, survey plans, and development opportunities affecting TTC lands.

In partnership with internal and external stakeholders, you will prepare reports, presentations, recommendations, and supporting documentation related to land development, infrastructure protection, and property matters. You will represent TTC interests at meetings, committees, and working groups while supporting city-building initiatives to ensure alignment with TTC operational and strategic objectives.
