Financial Controller

Torus Talent is expanding its network of experienced Financial Controllers across Greater Vancouver to support anticipated recruitment needs with our clients.

We are interested in connecting with accomplished accounting professionals who have experience leading finance teams, managing financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting operational and strategic decision-making.

Opportunities may range from hands-on Controller positions within growing privately held businesses to more complex leadership roles within multi-entity, international, or publicly traded organizations.

Typical Responsibilities

Depending on the organization, responsibilities may include:

• Overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with ASPE, IFRS, or US GAAP.
• Leading and developing accounting teams, including Senior Accountants, AP, AR, and payroll.
• Managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and working capital.
• Establishing and maintaining internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Coordinating external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting.
• Partnering with senior leadership to provide financial analysis and business insights.
• Leading accounting systems improvements, ERP implementations, and process optimization.
• Supporting acquisitions, integrations, and organizational growth initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

We are particularly interested in professionals who offer:

• A CPA designation.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting teams.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including ASPE, IFRS, and/or US GAAP.
• Experience managing audits, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with executive leadership.

Experience within manufacturing, distribution, professional services, technology, mining, or other operationally complex industries would be of interest.
