Senior Estimator

Our client, a leading civil construction contractor in Langley, specializes in excavation, shoring, and other complex civil construction projects. They are seeking a Senior Estimator to work closely with the Chief Estimator, support major project pursuits, and help strengthen the estimating team as the company continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead estimates for excavation and shoring projects, from initial review through bid submission.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify project scope, risks, and requirements.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
• Develop pricing for labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project-specific requirements.
• Solicit, review, and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with project teams and operations to validate assumptions, construction methods, schedules, and costs.
• Work closely with the Chief Estimator on bid strategy, pricing decisions, and pursuit planning.
• Help manage the estimating process and provide guidance to junior estimators.
• Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Support the transition of awarded projects to the operations team.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• At least 4 years of estimating experience in civil construction, with a strong background in excavation and shoring.
• Experience pricing projects involving deep excavations, earth retention systems, and related civil work.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical information.
• Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, labour productivity, equipment requirements, and subcontractor pricing.
• Experience coordinating bids and working with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to support the Chief Estimator while helping develop the estimating team.
