The Town of Devon is seeking dependable and motivated individuals to join our Arena Operations team as Casual Labourers. Based at the GFL Twin Arenas, this position supports the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and presentation of one of the community's busiest recreational facilities.

What You'll Do
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of dressing rooms, washrooms, spectator areas, offices, and common spaces.
- Complete routine inspections, cleaning schedules, and operational checklists.
- Assist with minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and general facility upkeep.
- Support seasonal facility start-up and shutdown activities.
Arena Operations & Event Support
- Assist with daily arena operations and facility preparations.
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, flooring, benches, nets, signage, and other equipment for rentals, tournaments, programs, and special events.
- Support snow and ice control activities around arena facilities.
- Help ensure facilities are prepared and ready for daily use.
Customer Service & Team Support
- Provide courteous and professional service to user groups, contractors, and members of the public.
- Respond to routine inquiries and direct concerns to the appropriate staff member.
- Work collaboratively with coworkers and other Town departments to support facility operations and service delivery.
Safety & Risk Management
- Identify and report hazards, maintenance concerns, and operational issues.
- Follow all Town policies, safe work procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Contribute to a safe environment for staff, contractors, and facility users.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
Assets
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- WHMIS Certification.
- Experience working in an arena, recreation facility, municipal environment, custodial role, or maintenance position.
- Experience operating light equipment, hand tools, or maintenance equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and facility maintenance experience.
Previous experience is considered an asset; however, training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Working Conditions
This position involves a combination of custodial, maintenance, and operational duties and requires:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Working around ice surfaces, cleaning equipment, facility machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Availability for evening, weekend, statutory holiday, and special event shifts.
- Working in an active public environment with facility users, contractors, and staff.
This position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires sound judgment, situational awareness, and strict adherence to safe work practices.
Compensation
$21.96 to $26.23 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
