What’s In It For You

A sustainable future demands ongoing digital advancement. Our digital solutions team leads the way in developing next-generation climate technology focused on reducing demand-side energy consumption and emissions. Our team - including BrainBox AI, Nuvolo, and more - combines technical expertise with advanced analytics to create data-driven solutions that add real value for customers, communities, and the planet. Whether you're advancing AI in HVAC or driving analytics for greater efficiency, your ideas will help engineer solutions for stronger communities and a sustainable world.

Join our fast-growing Artificial Intelligence company as a Digital Controls Technical Specialist. Your mission: ensure smooth operations without ever leaving your desk. You'll be the first to spot and address issues, coordinate solutions, and keep a vigilant eye on our buildings. This is a desk-based role, no fieldwork required.

Your overarching objective being to monitor troubleshoot our deployed models on customer sites in real-time.

What You Will Do

Lead Technical Operations

Oversee system architecture, configuration, and integration for Cloud BMS deployments. Lead remote troubleshooting, optimization, and commissioning efforts for IoT devices, HVAC controls, lighting, and refrigeration systems.
Ensure platform reliability, uptime, and performance through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.
Design, develop, and test control programs and sequences for IoT devices and building automation systems.
Act as a subject matter expert in cloudbased building automation, control logic, and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.).
Provide advanced technical expertise to support sales, customer success, operations, and implementation teams.

Empower and Mentor Teams

Train and mentor, a team of controls specialists, fostering knowledge sharing, growth, and technical excellence.
Provide constructive feedback and promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Serve as the escalation point for complex technical challenges and system-critical incidents.

Customer and Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with clients to understand needs, define requirements, and deliver tailored solutions. Communicate directly with customers to address issues, service requests, escalations, and system updates.
Proactively manage customer expectations and ensure alignment with established SLAs and contractual commitments.
Contribute to drafting or reviewing SLAs to support quality control and algorithm development processes.

Drive Continuous Improvement

Analyze system performance data to identify optimization opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
Collaborate with development, data science, and algorithm teams to enhance integrations and deployment workflows.
Lead documentation improvements, including test procedures, QA/QC results, step by step guides, and product reviews.
Support Knowledge Centered Service (KCS) improvements and apply shiftleft practices to increase troubleshooting efficiency.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for internal teams and customers.

Operational Support

Contribute to maintenance and system updates on client systems in a remote capacity.
Perform analytical testing (QA/QC) for new product validation, stability assessments, and release readiness.
Stay current with advancements in IoT, cloud technologies, building automation, and control system standards.
Provide afterhours coverage (nights, weekends, holidays) when required, with appropriate compensation.

What You Will Bring

Diploma in mechanical, electrical, or building environments engineering technology, or equivalent trade/field experience.
3 - 5 years of experience with building automation and HVAC control systems, preferably in the IoT domain.
Experience training, mentoring, or coaching junior team members or peers.
Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Hands-on experience with BMS software, programming, and hardware (Distech, Schneider Electric, Delta Controls, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC/mechanical systems, electrical, refrigeration, and building operations.
Experience commissioning HVAC automation controls and building management systems.
Proficiency with BMS communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, DIIInet).
Strong Unix/Linux OS experience, including scripting and command-line operations.
Solid IT and networking knowledge (configuration, troubleshooting, architecture).
Experience with electronics, testing equipment, circuitry, and control panel wiring.
Ability to multi-task, work autonomously, and collaborate across departments.
Familiarity with Python, MQTT, RESTful APIs, and NodeRED.
Tridium Niagara 4 certification is an asset.
