Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As a federal Crown corporation, Trans Mountain continues to build on more than 70 years of experience delivering operational and safety excellence through our crude oil pipeline system.

With our expanded pipeline system now in place, Trans Mountain provides enhanced direct access for Canadian crude oil to world markets. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as an Assurance Advisor (Contract). In this position, you will play a key role in providing independent and objective assurance over compliance, risk, controls, corrective and preventive action (CAPA), and management system effectiveness. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in assessing whether governance requirements are implemented, controls operate effectively, and corrective actions are sustainable, while maintaining independence from the activities being evaluated.

Key Responsibilities

Develop assurance criteria to assess management system governing requirements against.
Develop and execute assurance plans, audits, reviews, and validation activities using approved assurance criteria and evidence standards.
Validate control effectiveness, governance implementation, CAPA closure quality, and compliance with established requirements.
Identify systemic issues, recurring deficiencies, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
Produce objective, evidence-based assurance findings that support management decision-making and regulatory defensibility.
Confirm effectiveness of implemented actions where validation is required.
Maintain audit-ready assurance documentation and records.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

Post-secondary education in Business, Risk Management, Compliance, Quality Management, Engineering, Audit, or related discipline.
Minimum 6 years of progressive experience.
Diploma or certification in Management Systems, Organizational Effectiveness, Change Management, or Process Improvement considered an asset.
A Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) designation is considered an asset.
ISO Management Systems training, such as ISO 9001, ISO 31000, or ISO 45001, is considered an asset.
Experience conducting audits, compliance reviews, assurance assessments, or effectiveness validations.
Experience in regulated industries with strong evidence management and audit requirements.
Experience assessing governance, controls, risk management processes, and CAPA effectiveness.
A consistent track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

Working Conditions

Willingness and ability to travel as required.
May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.
