Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values-driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Senior Application Support Specialist. In this position, you will play a key role in keeping Trans Mountain’s Microsoft 365 environment stable, secure, and user-friendly, with a primary focus on SharePoint Online. As the escalation point for application issues, you will work directly with business users across the organization to ensure collaboration sites, document libraries, and workflows operate as intended. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online support, application troubleshooting, issue resolution, and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as tier 2 and tier 3 support for Microsoft 365 applications, taking ownership of tickets from intake through to closure.
- Triage, investigate and resolve incidents and service requests relating to SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive and associated business applications.
- Meet agreed response and resolution targets, keeping ticket records current so reporting on volumes and trends stays accurate.
- Reproduce reported faults, isolate root cause, and apply either a permanent fix or a clearly documented workaround.
- Coordinate with Microsoft support and third-party vendors when an issue sits outside internal control and track those cases to closure.
- Contribute to problem management by identifying recurring incidents and proposing durable remediation.
- Administer SharePoint Online as the organization's primary document and collaboration platform.
- Create, configure and maintain site collections, hub sites, communication sites and team sites in line with the approved information architecture.
- Manage site permissions, access requests, sharing settings and external access, applying least-privilege principles consistently.
- Build and maintain document libraries, lists, site columns, content types, views and managed metadata term sets.
- Support content migrations into SharePoint Online, including pre-migration analysis, permission mapping and post-migration validation.
- Troubleshoot search, versioning, retention, sync and performance issues across sites and libraries.
- Maintain low-code and SharePoint Framework customizations delivered by the development team, including regression testing after tenant changes.
- Use the low-code and scripting tools in the platform to remove manual effort from business processes and from support work itself.
- Identify support patterns that can be resolved through configuration, automation or user education rather than repeat manual intervention.
- Maintain configuration documentation, support runbooks and knowledge base articles for the service desk.
- Work with site owners to define their responsibilities and coach them in day-to-day site management.
- Report to the Manager, Application Support on ticket volumes, recurring issues and emerging platform risks.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Post-secondary education in information technology, computer science, or related discipline.
- Three to five years supporting business applications in an enterprise environment, including at least two years focused on SharePoint Online.
- Demonstrated administration experience across the Microsoft 365 admin centres, particularly the SharePoint admin centre.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint information architecture: site collections, content types, managed metadata, permission inheritance and search configuration.
- Experience working within a formal ticketing and change management process, such as ServiceNow or Azure DevOps.
- A consistent track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
- Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
