ABOUT THE ROLE
TransAlta is seeking an
Operator Level 1 to support operations within our Alberta Generation Services team.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operator Level 1 is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment for the purposes of seasonally dictated reclamation activities and winter snow removal. Other general reclamation activities will be performed as required.
This is a
full-time, safety sensitive position based at our Highvale Mine (SunHills) building, located just south of Wabamun Lake, approximately 65 kilometers west of Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.
This in an IBEW Local 254 position covered by the terms of the collective agreement.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment used in farm and construction settings, including tractors, loaders, and excavators.
- Support daily operations of the Keephills ash lagoon, including monitoring, maintenance, and environmental compliance.
- Perform general farming duties such as planting, harvesting, and field preparation.
- Conduct spraying and weed control activities using appropriate equipment and chemicals.
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in heavy equipment operations
- Class 1 Driver’s License considered an asset
- Grade 12 completion or equivalent required
- Proficient in basic computer applications
- Commitment to working in a team environment
