Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Project Manager will support the Enterprise Sustainability and Risk Management team to coordinate, report, and deliver projects within Coast Mountain Bus Company's bus transformation program. They will work across the enterprise to support the transition of TransLink's fleet to zero tailpipe emissions through project planning and execution. This role will support critical initiatives relating to efficiency monitoring with charging infrastructure, developing clean energy alternative delivery contracts, metering, and supporting implementation and requirements efforts related to charging management software.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Supports the TransLink Director Enterprise Sustainability and Risk Management in multi-year, cross enterprise energy management with specific focus on supporting CMBC’s Senior Director for Fleet Transformation with project reporting, coordination, and general project management activities to advance, optimize, and strengthen the zero-emission fleet.

Plans, manages, executes, and controls all aspects of assigned research, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and energy management projects involving larger scope, risk, impact and sensitivity, in alignment with the divisional strategy and departmental objectives

Leads the planning and integration of sustainability initiatives within assigned capital projects, including defining the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management; creating business cases/justifications and work plans, determining the objectives and measurements, determining the budget, resources, and stakeholders; setting up the project schedule and reviewing plans.

Manages and monitors assigned projects through implementation, including executing the project according to the project plan; creating project management records and documentations; monitoring the project progress and financial status of the project. Anticipates and proactively manages change throughout the project life cycle.

Prepares technical scopes of work definition, technical requirements, project specific requirements and project schedule constraints.

Works collaboratively with Strategic Sourcing, Finance, and Enterprise Sustainabiilty in the definition and implementation of cross-enterprise bus transformation related projects.

Presents and reports the project progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones and key project metrics to the senior leadership team. Provides suggestions and recommendations to the senior leadership team on risk management and project delivery.

Manages cross functional project teams and stakeholders across the enterprise. Develops and maintains a respectful and productive relationship with all stakeholders. Coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors to seamlessly execute projects.

Provides expert advice and recommendations on engineering project management standards, governance and procedures to continuously improve the enterprise project management practices.

Manages external consultants, providing work direction/guidance/input, monitoring contract compliance and internal relationships with project teams, and performance management.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The competencies for this position would typically be acquired through completion of a university degree in

Engineering and/or Business. A PMP certification is required. Requires six (6) years of previous experience in

engineering project management, preferably in a combination of fleet and facilities.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Advanced knowledge of energy efficient, low carbon and zero emissions technologies in public transportation including electric light rail, battery-electric buses, electric-trollies, renewable fuels, energy storage, and the supporting infrastructure, maintenance, and operational facilities.

Advanced knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of project management.

Advanced interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, to resolve critical and high impact issues.

Advanced time management and organization skills to balance and coordinate effort across multiple, concurrent activities.

Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

Solid technical skills in business and project management computer applications and databases.

Other Information

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

This position works collaboratively with BC Hydro to agree on, plan and execute energy related bus transformation projects over a three-year rolling timeframe.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation

Hybrid

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position ranges from $91,840 - $137,760 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
