Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Leads the planning, development and delivery of social media and digital content initiatives that support TransLink's communications objectives, enterprise priorities and public engagement goals. Provides advice and expertise on social media strategy, digital storytelling, audience engagement and content development, while monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to enhance organizational reputation and reach.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leads the strategy, conceptualization, scripting, production, editing and publishing of complex and high- impact organic social media content for TransLink’s owned social media channels. Ensures content aligns with TransLink’s brand, voice, accessibility standards, communications objectives, and platform best practices.

Develops social media strategies, content plans and channel approaches for major enterprise initiatives, campaigns, events and emerging issues. Provides guidance on social media governance, accessibility requirements and content best practices to support consistent, effective and compliant digital communications.

Keeps current on social media trends, platform changes, audience behaviour and emerging storytelling practices. Identifies and recommends practical opportunities to improve TransLink’s social media content and approach.

Works closely with teams across TransLink and with external partners to plan, develop and deliver effective communications content.

Collaborates with Marketing, Media Relations and other Communications teams to ensure organic social media content complements paid campaigns and broader communications objectives.

Supports Board and executive presentations, communications and livestream productions.

Advises on content approaches, channel selection and publishing strategies for social media communications, identifying risks and recommending escalation of complex or sensitive issues when required.

Monitors social media performance, audience engagement trends and emerging issues using monitoring and analytics tools. Identifies reputational risks and changes in audience behaviour, recommends content adjustments and communication responses, and escalates significant issues as appropriate

Provides social media and digital content advice to cross-functional projects, initiatives and working groups, identifying content opportunities and recommending audience engagement and channel approaches.

Develops, updates, maintains and improves digital content libraries, templates, production workflows and asset management systems.

Provides advice, training, coaching and guidance to social media team members on strategy, content creation, videography, photography, editing, and platform best practices. Contributes to departmental budget and business planning processes and supports the effective delivery of social media initiatives through functional leadership and coordination.

Demonstrates leadership by sharing knowledge and expertise, promoting strong working relationships and collaboration within Social Media and with Media Relations, and promoting a cohesive and collaborative team environment.

Supports communications planning and message development related to organizational initiatives, which may include sensitive organizational matters and issues affecting employees or the workplace, requiring access to confidential information and the exercise of discretion.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The competencies for this position would be acquired through successful completion of a university degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in social media and digital content strategy within a large, complex organization or agency environment. Experience in a public sector organization in an asset.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Advanced written and oral communication skills to develop and implement communication strategies, plans and social media content.

Strong editing and production skills using tools including: Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator) and mobile content creation tools.

Advanced knowledge of major social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube, and experience using content management, scheduling, publishing and monitoring tools like Hootsuite, WordPress and Sitecore.

Advanced knowledge of strategic communications and social media strategy, including audience engagement, digital storytelling, content planning, brand and reputational risk management, channel optimization and performance measurement.

Solid interpersonal and relationship building skills with ability to recognize political and other sensitivities, and develop credibility with internal stakeholders through communication

Ability to deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines while managing short and long-term projects.

Solid analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret social media data, identify meaningful insights and translate findings into practical recommendations

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position ranges from $84,480 - $126,720 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
