Determine required courses of action, create work reports, and explain work/cost estimates to customers when necessary.
- Preventative Maintenance: Ensure timely and efficient completion of scheduled PM tasks and safety inspections in accordance with TransX guidelines. Perform routine maintenance including checking engine hours, fluid levels, running defrost cycles, and adjusting protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices as part of PM.
- Parts Handling : Follow inventory control processes, complete Parts Request Forms, support kitting, and verify parts availability prior to repairs. Ensure replacement parts meet factory specifications, record exact part numbers on Work Orders, identify/document warrantable repairs, and return warranty/core parts. - Records Management: Maintain accurate, legible inspection forms, Work Orders, and paperwork to ensure correct billing, inventory management, and KPI tracking. Record unit mileage, engine hours, and actual time spent on each repair line for SRT accuracy. Promptly input data into appropriate software systems.
- Continuous Improvement & Leadership: Align with shop KPIs (SRT overage, productivity, quality, absenteeism, and WCB incidents). Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to reduce job changeover loss and enhance customer service. Communicate progress or delays clearly to shop supervisors and provide coaching, mentoring, and training to Apprentices or other Journeymen as assigned.
