Original job description

ABOUT TRIDYNE PROJECTS

Tridyne Projects is an established multi-discipline, full service EPC / EPCM consulting firm based in Calgary, Alberta. Our work spans Engineering and Detailed Design, Project Management, Procurement, Construction Support, Pipeline Inspections, and Field Auditing, and our client relationships include some of the industry's leading energy companies.

We're a team of experienced technical professionals who enjoy sharing what they know. Our people bring deep industry experience, and we value the opportunity to build long-term relationships with both clients and colleagues. We believe the key to our development is our team of knowledgeable, innovative, and energetic professionals who are committed to providing exceptional quality, service, and value to our clients.

At the same time, we're focused on building a team where people can do great work, grow their careers, and have a real impact. Industry-leading salaries, flexible schedules, autonomy, and company events are all part of the Tridyne Projects experience. We are also pretty proud of our unofficial Tridyne sports teams: dodgeball, softball, table tennis…to name a few.

Big enough for big opportunities. Small enough for everyone to know your name.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Tridyne Projects is looking for a Senior Planner to support the planning, development, monitoring and reporting of project schedules across engineering and energy projects.

You’ll work closely with project managers, engineering leads, project controls and other stakeholders to develop and maintain integrated schedules that reflect project scope, deliverables, priorities and contractual milestones. You’ll help teams understand where projects stand, what’s coming next and where schedule risks need attention.

This role calls for more than updating dates in a schedule. You’ll need to understand how engineering deliverables, procurement activities, reviews, approvals and downstream project activities connect, and how changes in one area can affect the overall plan.

We’re looking for someone who can work independently, ask the right questions, challenge assumptions when needed and turn schedule data into information that helps project teams make better decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Develop, integrate and maintain EPC project schedules covering engineering, procurement and construction-related activities, deliverables and milestones.
Build and manage work breakdown structures, activity logic, sequencing, durations, dependencies and critical paths.
Work with engineering leads, project managers, procurement and other disciplines to establish realistic schedules and confirm activity dates, interfaces and deliverable requirements.
Maintain baseline schedules and regularly update forecasts to reflect actual progress, approved changes, emerging constraints and revised project priorities.
Monitor schedule performance, identify variances and assess the impact of delays, changes and missed milestones on downstream activities and overall project delivery.
Identify critical path issues, schedule risks and potential bottlenecks early, working with project teams to develop practical mitigation and recovery plans.
Analyze schedule trends, float, dependencies and progress to provide clear insight into project status and potential impacts.
Prepare schedule reports, progress curves, milestone forecasts and variance analyses for project managers, leadership and clients.
Support progress measurement and reporting by validating schedule updates against information from project teams and other relevant sources.
Assess proposed scope changes and schedule revisions, identifying potential impacts to project timelines and commitments.
Participate in project planning and progress meetings, clearly communicating schedule concerns, priorities and actions required to keep work moving.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
10+ years of experience in project planning, with at least 5 years in a project lead role within EPCM or major capital projects.
Proficient in Primavera P6 (preferable) and/or MS Project
Strong understanding of project delivery models and contracting strategies in the oil & gas or infrastructure sectors.
Experience in resource loaded schedules a benefit, and a good understanding of earned value and forecasting
PMP, CCP, or related certifications are advantageous.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining integrated schedules for complex, multi-discipline projects.
Strong knowledge of scheduling fundamentals, including work breakdown structures, activity logic, critical path analysis, float management, baselines and schedule forecasting.
The ability to assess schedule performance, identify emerging risks and develop practical recommendations to address delays or constraints.
Experience preparing schedule reports, progress updates, forecasts and variance analyses for project stakeholders.
Confidence working directly with project managers, engineering teams and other stakeholders to obtain accurate updates, challenge assumptions and resolve scheduling issues.
Clear communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to explain schedule impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

WHY TRIDYNE?

Do Great Work. Have a Life. Be Part of the Team.

Learn From the Best: Work alongside experienced engineering and project professionals who are accessible and willing to share their knowledge.
Own Your Work: Tridyne gives people the autonomy to manage their responsibilities and expects them to take ownership.
Work That Matters: Support real energy projects and see how your technical decisions contribute to the work.
Know Your People: Join a smaller team where people know one another and work together beyond their individual disciplines.
Work Hard. Live Well: Flexible schedules and a culture that respects family, hobbies and life outside work.

READY TO JOIN US?

Please submit your resume in confidence to careers@tridyne.ca. We’d like to thank all candidates for their interest; however, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
