Manager, Programs & Client Services

True North Society - Strathmore, Alberta

Established in 1993, True North Society has spent more than 30 years walking alongside individuals and families affected by family violence. From our home in Strathmore, Alberta, we offer emergency shelter, community outreach, early intervention, public education, and family support, all in service of a future where our community is free of violence, and every person is empowered to find safety and independence.

In our most recent year, we served over 5,000 individuals across all programs and received nearly 2,000 calls to our crisis line. We know that leaving an emergency shelter is only the beginning, and that without safe and affordable housing, too many survivors are forced to choose between returning to dangerous situations or leaving the communities they call home.

The Opportunity

True North is seeking a full-time Manager, Programs and Client Services to lead our client services team through an exciting period of growth for our organization. With a new facility underway and a new strategic plan taking shape, this is a pivotal moment for True North. This is a leadership opportunity for someone who is energized by organizational momentum, grounded in excellent service delivery, and passionate about supporting families affected by domestic violence.

You will provide operational leadership across all direct service programs, and help build the programming foundation True North needs heading into the new build.

This role reports to the Executive Director and is based onsite in Strathmore, approximately 35 minutes east of Calgary.

The Role

The Manager, Programs and Client Services provides operational and clinical leadership across True North's direct service programs, including crisis, outreach, child and youth, and family support. This position requires a passionate, transformative, and results-oriented leader who can align service delivery with the strategic direction of the organization while contributing positively to the culture and morale of True North.

You will serve as a key member of the leadership team, supervising two team leads, contributing to budget conversations, strategic planning, and organizational decision-making. On any given day, you will hold the clinical and operational integrity of service delivery, ensure case management standards are upheld, and create the conditions for your team to do meaningful, high-quality work with clients. You will oversee data management and funder reporting, lead HR processes, and respond to client and agency needs as they arise.

This is also a role with a longer view. Programming is a strategic priority heading into the new build, and you will play a central role in building that capacity alongside a cross-functional Programming Project Team.

Confidentiality, professional boundaries, and a clear understanding of ethics are paramount to all positions at True North.

The Ideal Candidate:

Is an experienced leader in the social services sector with genuine knowledge of trauma-informed practice, safety planning, risk assessment, and case management in a domestic violence or closely related setting
Has supervised teams and knows how to build trust, hold accountability, and develop people in an inclusive environment
Is comfortable leading through change and can hold a clear direction for their team
Brings strong operational instincts and the ability to manage competing priorities without losing sight of the people at the centre of the work
Is detail-oriented with strong computer skills and the ability to manage data and documentation with accuracy and care
Communicates clearly and directly across all audiences including frontline staff, funders, community partners, and board of directors
Is committed to the values of True North: connection, compassion, courage, integrity, and empowerment

Qualifications

Degree in Social Work or a related human services field; registration with the applicable licensing body is required
Minimum three years of experience in a domestic violence or closely related social services setting
Minimum three years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably within a non-profit organization
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and driver's abstract
Valid First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to complete upon hire
ASIST or willingness to complete upon hire
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Intervention Check required prior to start

The Details

This position requires flexibility and is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. Generally, the hours for this position are daytime with some evenings and weekends as required, and on-call duties as assigned.
