Position: z/OS WLM Performance Optimization Consultant
Location: Canada (2 days onsite preferred; remote may be considered for a strong candidate)
Employment Type: Contract
Client is looking for 2 days onsite but if you find someone really good, we could probably work out remotely.
Client is specifically looking for a hands-on WLM performance optimization expert in a large enterprise or public-sector environments.
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
The selected specialist will be responsible for:
- Mainframe Performance Assessment
- Assess existing z/OS WLM policies and configurations.
- Analyze performance across multiple LPARs, IMS and Db2 environments.
- Identify performance bottlenecks, resource contention and optimization opportunities.
- WLM Optimization & Capacity Management
- Design and recommend improvements to WLM policies and workload priorities.
- Support implementation and validation of approved WLM changes.
- Develop capacity planning and forecasting recommendations.
- Performance Reporting & Analytics
- Enhance existing mainframe performance and capacity reporting.
- Develop IMS and Db2 transaction-level performance reports.
- Provide CPU, storage, workload utilization and capacity trend reporting.
- Operational Advisory & Knowledge Transfer
- Support investigation and troubleshooting of production performance issues.
- Provide technical recommendations to improve operational reliability.
- Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions.
