Join our team as an On-Call First Aid Instructor and play a vital role in empowering individuals with life-saving skills at our Westerose, AB training location. In this casual, independent contractor position, you will step in to deliver comprehensive first aid training sessions without the hassle of administration - we book all the clients and fill the classes, allowing you to focus entirely on teaching. This flexible role is perfect for a certified instructor looking to make a meaningful difference and share their passion for safety on a schedule that works for them.
Duties
- Lead engaging and interactive first aid training courses on an on-call basis at our Westerose, AB location.
- Demonstrate proper techniques for CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), AED (automated external defibrillator) use, wound care, choking relief, and other emergency procedures.
- Adapt course delivery to meet certification standards and address the specific needs of diverse audiences.
- Assess participants’ skills through practical demonstrations and provide constructive feedback to ensure competency.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant attendance, and certification completion.
- Stay current with the latest first aid protocols, updates in safety standards, and relevant certifications.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages questions, active participation, and confidence-building.
Requirements & Experience
- Current Certification: Active certification as a First Aid Instructor from a recognized organization (e.g., Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, or similar agency) is required.
- Contractor Status: Must be legally established to work as an independent contractor.
- Equipment: Instructors should ideally have access to their own training materials and equipment (e.g., CPR training dummies, AED trainers, and first aid supplies).
- Experience: Proven experience in teaching or training delivery, preferably in health, safety, or emergency response fields.
- Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex procedures to learners of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Delivery: Ability to demonstrate techniques accurately while maintaining an energetic and motivating presence.
Compensation
- Pay rate will be determined based on experience. Expected pay range will be $38-$45/hour.
