Job Title: Java Full Stack Developer
Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid 3 days/week)
Duration: Contract - 6 months
Position Overview
Seeking experienced Java Full Stack Developers to support enterprise-scale technology initiatives within a leading global financial institution. This role is primarily focused on Java backend engineering with strong modern frontend development experience using Angular or React.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing Java/Spring Boot microservices, building modern enterprise web applications using Angular or React, and integrating frontend applications with RESTful services and distributed backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular or React.
- Build scalable and maintainable REST APIs and microservices supporting business-critical applications.
- Develop reusable, responsive, and maintainable UI components using Angular/TypeScript or React.
- Integrate frontend applications with backend Java services and REST APIs.
- Participate in the design and development of microservices and distributed applications.
- Develop event-driven solutions using technologies such as Kafka or other messaging platforms.
- Write clean, efficient, reusable, and well-tested code across frontend and backend layers.
- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, and technology teams throughout the SDLC.
- Troubleshoot application, integration, performance, and production issues.
- Contribute to application scalability, resiliency, security, and performance improvements.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, automated testing, and CI/CD activities.
- Follow enterprise engineering standards, security controls, and development best practices within a regulated financial-services environment.
Required Skills
Backend
- Strong hands-on experience with Java.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with distributed systems or distributed application architecture.
- Experience with Kafka or other messaging/event-driven technologies.
Frontend
- Strong hands-on experience with Angular or React.
- For Angular: strong TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 experience.
- For React: strong React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 experience.
- Experience developing reusable components and enterprise-grade web applications.
- Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs and backend services.
- Understanding of frontend performance, security, and application architecture.
Engineering / Cloud
- Experience with Git and modern CI/CD practices.
- Experience with automated unit and integration testing.
- Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes preferred.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms preferred.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within banking, financial services, capital markets, payments, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience developing high-volume, highly available enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of distributed-system concepts including scalability, resiliency, fault tolerance, concurrency, and asynchronous processing.
- Experience with caching, messaging, or other distributed technologies.
- Experience working within large enterprise technology organizations.
