The Role
You will travel to mine and industrial sites to find faults and fix them. Breakdown response, service calls, warranty work, shutdown support, and the testing that follows a repair. Between trips you are in the Kamloops shop testing panels and supporting builds.
Expect to be away regularly. Trips run from a day to two weeks
- Responding to service calls and breakdowns, often on short notice
- Troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation and control faults to root cause
- Analyzing complex systems to understand why a process or system is not working as intended going beyond just I&C issues.
- Calibration, loop checks and functional testing
- Terminating, testing and repairing wiring, fiberoptic cables, and process tubing.
- Supporting startups, shutdowns and commissioning on site
- Writing service reports that include recommendations for future improvements.
- Working safely under site rules, permits and lockout
- Telling us what else the site needs while you are standing in it
Qualifications
- Red Seal Instrumentation or Electrical ticket, or a diploma in electrical, instrumentation or controls
- Willingness to travel
- Valid driver's licence and a clean abstract
- Ability to meet site access requirements, including drug and alcohol testing where clients require it
- Troubleshooting judgement, and the discipline to work safely with nobody watching
- Clear written reporting
Additional Skills: You do not need all of these. A good mix of them is what we are hiring on.
- PLC/DCS/SCADA experience: DeltaV, Rockwell, 800XA, Schneider/Modicon preferred
- Industrial networking, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, managed switches
- Fiberoptic termination, splicing and testing
- Process instrumentation: flow, level, density, pressure, analytical
- Mineral processing: crushing, grinding, flotation, thickeners, tailings, water treatment industry experience
- Variable frequency drives commissioning and troubleshooting
- Testing and troubleshooting medium voltage equipment, switchgear and drives
- Protection relays, setting and testing
- Generators, troubleshooting and setting up paralleling and transfer schemes
- MCCs and low voltage switchgear repair and refurbishing
- Commissioning and startup across process environments.
Compensation
- $52.00 to $70.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Overtime and premium rates on extended site work
- Travel paid. Meals and accommodation covered when you are away
