Project Manager – Calgary Office – Join a Team That Puts People First

At TWD, we know the secret to success isn’t just technical skill, it’s the people behind it. That’s why we hire for attitude first. If you’re collaborative, positive, and driven to grow, you’ll thrive here. We’re not a typical EPCM company. We’re a family-oriented team with global reach, working on exciting projects in Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, Renewables, and more. Our name says it all: Together We Deliver.

What You’ll Do

As an experienced Project Manager within a global engineering firm, you will lead and oversee the successful execution of engineering projects across the energy and infrastructure sectors. You will be responsible for managing projects during the engineering development phase, working closely with key clients in the Refinery, Pipeline, Midstream, and oilsands. Your expertise in EPC project delivery and understanding of owner/operator environments will be critical in delivering high-value outcomes in a collaborative and safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management & Control
  • Develop and maintain detailed project cost control systems, including cost breakdown structures, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Monitor actual costs against budgets, track commitments, and report on variances, trends, and cost drivers.
  • Manage and track changes to the project scope, ensuring all cost impacts are assessed and integrated into forecasts.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support the development of initial project budgets and ensure alignment with approved estimates and execution strategies.
  • Prepare monthly cost forecasts by incorporating actual expenditures, committed costs, and anticipated future expenses.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide narrative explanations for deviations from budget or previous forecasts.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Produce regular cost control reports, dashboards, and project status summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate and timely input into corporate and client reporting requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive and auditable cost records in accordance with corporate standards and project requirements.
Change Management
  • Evaluate and quantify cost impacts of change orders, scope changes, and trend notices.
  • Coordinate with project teams to validate changes and ensure cost implications are integrated into forecasts and approvals.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Liaise with project managers, planners, procurement, and finance to validate cost data and assumptions.
  • Participate in regular project control meetings, contributing cost performance insights and recommendations.
  • Support project close-out by preparing final cost reports, lessons learned, and reconciliations.
Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and contractual requirements related to cost control.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in cost management tools, templates, and best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Senior Role: 10+ years of progressive experience in cost control on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proficient in the use of cost management and project control software (e.g., Excel, cost control systems, ERP platforms).
  • Solid understanding of project cost control principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex cost data and provide clear insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
