Remote Lodge Sous Chef
1 Tyaughton Lake Road, Gold Bridge, British Columbia, Canada, V0K 1P0
full-time . October 10, 2026
Description
Sous Chef – Executive Chef Succession Opportunity
Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing | Gold Bridge, British Columbia
Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team, with the opportunity to develop into the Executive Chef position.
Located in the South Chilcotin Mountains, Tyax offers a culinary environment unlike a traditional restaurant or resort. Our program changes significantly throughout the year, and we are looking for a chef who has the experience and versatility to move comfortably between them.
During our winter heli-ski season, we operate several private culinary programs for high-end clientele, with an emphasis on refined, multi-course dining, premium ingredients and highly personalized guest experiences. A strong fine-dining background is essential for this role.
In the summer, the operation shifts to an elevated but more approachable lodge restaurant alongside weddings, catering, group functions and special events. The right candidate will be equally comfortable executing an intimate tasting menu one evening and leading a busy restaurant or large event the next.
The Role
Working alongside the Executive Chef, you will take an active role in:
- Daily kitchen leadership and service
- Seasonal menu development and execution
- Private fine-dining and multi-course culinary programs
- Restaurant, wedding, catering and event operations
- Training and mentoring the culinary team
- Ordering, receiving and inventory management
- Food cost, waste and purchasing controls
- Scheduling and labour management
- Maintaining strong standards for food quality, organization and sanitation
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a chef with strong fine-dining experience who is ready to take the next step in their career.
You should be creative, organized and confident leading a kitchen, while remaining hands-on and adaptable. Experience in luxury hospitality, tasting-menu restaurants, private dining, resorts or high-end catering is highly valued.
Just as importantly, you need to be versatile. Tyax is not one style of restaurant year-round, and our culinary leadership needs to adapt to very different guests, service styles and volumes throughout the seasons.
Experience with food costing, purchasing, inventory, scheduling and team development is an asset, particularly for someone interested in progressing into an Executive Chef position.
Life at Tyax
Tyax is located in a remote mountain community surrounded by some of British Columbia's most spectacular wilderness. This position is best suited to someone who genuinely enjoys remote living, outdoor recreation and being part of a close-knit team.
Staff accommodation is available at a subsidized cost, along with a small utility stipend.
For the right chef, this is an opportunity to join an established culinary program, learn the operation firsthand and ultimately take ownership of its next chapter as Executive Chef.
To apply, please take the time to write a cover letter outlining why you would make a good fit for this role and the versatile experiences you might bring to the table.
