Original job description

AWS Developer

We are seeking a proactive and technically sharp AWS Developer (Not a DevOps position) to join a technology team supporting core financial infrastructure at a top-tier Canadian bank. You will design, build, and deploy cloud-native microservices and serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, Node.js, and TypeScript.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serverless Development: Architect and write scalable microservices using Node.js, and AWS Lambda.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Define and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK.
  • Event-Driven Systems: Configure resilient message queues and event processing using AWS SQS, managing visibility timeouts, dead-letter queues (DLQs), and single-consumer message delivery mechanics.
  • Security & IAM: Apply strict principle-of-least-privilege security using IAM roles, trust policies, and resource-based policies.
  • Code Quality & Architecture: Apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and enterprise software design patterns.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 3 to 7 years of hands-on backend software engineering experience (3–4 years acceptable for exceptional technical candidates).
  • Core Languages: Advanced proficiency in Angular, TypeScript, and Node.js
  • AWS Expertise: Proven track record building with AWS Lambda, SQS, IAM, and infrastructure deployment via AWS CDK.
  • Tools: Postgres hands-on working experience and knowledge of Postgres
  • Software Design: Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), asynchronous execution paradigms (Promises vs. async/await), and design patterns.
  • Collaboration & Ownership: Strong initiative, proactive problem-solving, and ability to deliver independently within a hybrid banking enterprise environment.
