The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial trucking safety, with direct experience in fuel transportation, petroleum distribution, or hazardous materials transportation. A valid Class 1/AZ driver's licence and an acceptable driving record are essential for this position.

This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting driver safety and performance, conducting investigations, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Operations and Safety teams to identify risks, implement corrective measures, and continuously improve safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with applicable transportation safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Conduct driver safety evaluations, inspections, audits, and operational observations to identify risks and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near-misses, and safety violations, including preparing reports and implementing corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and deliver driver safety training, orientations, and ongoing development programs.
  • Monitor driver performance and compliance, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safe operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, incident reports, training documentation, and compliance files.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Work closely with Dispatch, Operations, and Management to address safety concerns and improve operational practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety procedures, reduce incidents, and strengthen overall compliance.
  • Promote accountability and a proactive safety culture among drivers and operational staff.

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a safety, compliance, or supervisory role within the trucking or transportation industry.
  • Experience in fuel transportation, petroleum distribution, or hazardous materials transportation.
  • A valid Class 1 / AZ driver's license (or provincial equivalent), with no more than three demerit points, no active license suspensions, and no pending charges.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of commercial transportation safety regulations and industry compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits, and driver performance evaluations.
  • Familiarity with hours-of-service regulations, commercial vehicle inspections, and transportation safety documentation.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively coach drivers and collaborate with management.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation or safety management systems.

What We Offer

  • Competitive annual salary of CA70,000–CA90,000, based on qualifications and experience.
  • Opportunity to take an active role in improving safety performance within a growing transportation company.
  • Collaborative work environment with direct involvement in operational decision-making.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
