Original job description

Procurement & Logistics Coordinator

Universal Flooring Systems Ltd. · Calgary, AB · Full-time, in office · Reports to the Operations Manager · $60,000 to $75,000

Who we are

We've been installing commercial flooring across Western Canada since 1997. General contractors, developers and facility managers hire us for LVT, sheet vinyl, carpet, tile, rubber, ceramic tile, and wall protection. We're a team of about 17, so every person here shapes how a job turns out. Real People. Real Partners. Real Results.

The role

Every job needs the right material, in the right place, on the right day. You make that happen. You'll own ordering, receiving, warehouse inventory and delivery to site for our projects, from contract award to closeout. Our Project Managers tell you what they need and when. You figure out how to get it there.

This isn't a button-pushing purchasing job. You'll choose suppliers, negotiate pricing, and keep our systems accurate enough that a PM never has to call a supplier or ask what's left in the warehouse.

What you'll do

Issue POs and check every order confirmation against them, line by line
Pick the products and suppliers for sundries like adhesives, patch, trims and transitions, based on price and availability
Negotiate pricing and combine orders across jobs to get better deals
Receive material at the warehouse and know exactly what's there and where
Get material to site on schedule: pick tickets, transport bookings and delivery coordination
Give our PMs accurate counts so shortages get caught before they hit the site
Handle returns, credits and surplus material at closeout
Own our product library: codes, pricing and suppliers
Build our network of storage, transport and shipping, including out-of-town jobs and shipping from US suppliers
Match supplier invoices to POs so our controller only touches them once

What you bring

2+ years in purchasing, procurement, material coordination or logistics, ideally in construction or flooring
You're comfortable with square feet, linear feet and square yards, and with carton, roll and skid sizes
A wrong product code or quantity bugs you, and you fix it before it ships
When three jobs need something the same day, you stay calm and decide what goes first
You keep your system current even in a busy week, because you know your PMs are counting on it
You like working the phone with suppliers and you're not shy about asking for a better price
Experience with Excel, Smartsheet or construction software.

Why Universal Flooring

Great company culture and supportive team environment for delivering projects.
Every project's material runs through you, and you set your own priorities to get it where it needs to be.
You'll help build how we manage material, not just follow someone else's process.
You'll have a direct line to the people making decisions.
$60,000 to $75,000, plus great benefits

How to apply

Apply through LinkedIn. As part of your application, tell us about the toughest material problem you've solved on a project and how you solved it.
