The Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Université Laval invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering. The Department has a faculty of 14 professors and provides undergraduate and graduate programs in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering and Materials and Metallurgical Engineering to over 300 undergraduate students and over a hundred graduate students.
Job Description
Candidates must possess strong expertise in mining engineering and mineral processing, particularly in one of the following areas mining environment, mineral economics, mining geostatistics, or drilling and blasting, as well as relevant teaching experience. Selected candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department and supervise graduate students at the MSc and PhD levels. The candidates are expected to develop sponsored and innovative research programs in fields of mining and mineral processing engineering that are complementary to the current strengths of our department.
Selection criterias
The successful candidates will hold an undergraduate degree and a PhD in mining and mineral processing engineering or in a closely related field. The candidates will be members (P. Eng.) of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (the Quebec Corporation of Engineers) or another Canadian order of engineers or take the necessary steps to become a member within two years from assuming the post. As teaching activities are in French, the selected candidates should be able to communicate and write in French or take the necessary steps to communicate in French within three years from assuming the post. The successful candidates will meet the necessary qualifications for the position and will be selected based on the following criteria
- Quality of academic training;
- Research experience and potential, including technology transfer and research management;
- Teaching experience and potential;
- Achievements in the field of mining and mineral processing engineering;
- Relevance of qualifications and experience to the position;
- Potential for integration and synergy with the existing faculty.
