We are currently seeking an Accounting Officer, Clients, to join our Finance team and support the outside organisations for which Universities Canada provides accounting services.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Accounting, the incumbent processes payments and controls expenses by receiving, verifying, entering, and reconciling invoices and expense reports for all outside organisations.
Responsibilities
- Preparing the issuance of all cheques
- reconciling the credit card accounts
- maintaining filing of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) documentation
- answering queries from clients
- monthly balance of the AP and AR module for external organisations
- manage the day-to-day execution and delivery of banking, month end reporting and journal entries for all external organisations
Education and Experience
- College diploma in accounting or business administration
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamic 365 Business Central or another accounting software, an asset
- minimum 2 years similar experience
Skills & Abilities
- High degree of organization, professionalism
- attention to detail, accuracy and completeness
- able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and demands
- ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English. Bilingualism in both in French and English a strong asset
- excellent interpersonal skills
- proficient with use of MS suite including excel and word
- ability to learn and use various financial databases effectively
The position is based in Ottawa. Universities Canada has adopted a hybrid work model where employees are expected to work in the office a minimum of two days a week.
The hiring range for this position is from $50,945 to $63,680 with the ability to progress to a maximum of $70,050. To ensure fair and equitable pay at Universities Canada, placement on the salary range will be based on years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the position. Candidates who do not meet all of the position requirements may be considered in an underfill capacity, in which case the candidate would be hired at a lower level than the position level.
