Includes the basic principles and practices of TQM, the tools and techniques of TQM, and case studies of the implementation of TQM in the manufacturing and service industries.Prerequisite(s): Take ADM*2623*Class Capacity: 30 MBA 6614Topics include business quality management, the total quality system, management strategies for quality, engineering technology of quality, statistical technology of quality, implementing total quality management in the manufacturing and service sector. A comparative analysis of five of the world's most influential theorists on the subject of total quality management: W. Edwards Deming, Philip Crosby, J.M. Juran, Armand Feigenbaum and Taguchi. The objective is to demonstrate, apply and integrate the knowledge gained in the MBA program. This course will be theme based, and focus on field studies, addressing issues of ongoing businesses and organizations.Prerequisite(s): Take MBA*6607* or permission of the instructor.Class Capacity: 20Minimum qualifications include a Master's level degree in a field relevant to the topic area as well as for business disciplines having work or practice experience, or having been an actively serving member of a board of directors, or having had significant participation in professional associations or standard/policy-making bodies within the last five years. PhD is preferred. Consideration may be given to applicants possessing an undergraduate degree in combination with a relevant professional designation.
