About The Role

Reporting to and supporting the Controller, the Payroll/Accounts Payable Coordinator will play a key role in managing the day-to-day payroll operations of the business while providing backup support for Accounts Payable.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting and payroll professional who enjoys working with numbers, managing multiple priorities, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. The role will be primarily responsible for full-cycle payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees, payroll reconciliations, and resolving payroll-related inquiries, while providing backup coverage for Accounts Payable and supporting other Finance team activities as required.

Key responsibilities include:

Process full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and timely payments;
Review timesheets, overtime, premiums, vacation, statutory holiday pay, and other payroll inputs;
Process payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, wage adjustments, benefits, and deductions;
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries;
Prepare and maintain payroll records, including ROEs, T4s, remittances, and other statutory reporting;
Complete payroll and benefits reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll-related accounting activities;
Work closely with HR and Operations to ensure accurate employee information and payroll processing;
Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, coding, vendor payments, and reconciliations;
Assist with month-end close, year-end audit preparation, and other accounting activities as required;
Support improvements to payroll and accounting processes, controls, and SOPs.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and dependable payroll professional who takes pride in accuracy, organization, and getting things done right. You are comfortable managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and working with confidential employee and financial information. You enjoy problem-solving, take ownership of your work, and aren't afraid to ask questions or follow up when something doesn't look right. You are approachable, collaborative, and willing to jump in where needed to support the team.

Our Must Haves

Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP), Business Administration, or a related field;
2+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience, including hourly employees;

Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and statutory reporting requirements;
Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, QuickBooks Online and/or ServiceTitan is strongly preferred;
Working knowledge of Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliations;
Familiarity with ROEs, T4s, and statutory remittances;
Experience in manufacturing, construction, or another project-based environment is considered an asset;
Strong Excel, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills;
