About Us:

Urbantech is a GTA-based boutique Civil Engineering consulting firm and a leader in the land development industry. With decades of experience in project management, construction administration, drafting, water resources, and municipal engineering, we provide innovative, practical, and cost-effective engineering solutions tailored to our clients and their unique project goals.

Our team works closely with clients and project partners to deliver high-quality engineering services from initial concept and design through municipal approvals and construction.

The Role:

Urbantech is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Project Manager – Land Development to join our Design team. We are open to hire for our Oakville and Markham Office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Civil Engineer or Project Manager with experience in land development, municipal engineering, and project delivery who is ready to take ownership of projects from start to finish.

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading projects through the full project lifecycle, including project planning, design, municipal approvals, client coordination, technical review, and construction support. While the role is primarily focused on project management and leadership, the successful candidate will also remain involved in the technical side of projects and will be comfortable reviewing and contributing to civil designs when required.

What You’ll Do:

Project Management & Delivery

Manage land development projects from initial concept and design through municipal approvals and construction.
Maintain regular communication with clients and provide updates regarding project status, schedules, budgets, and outstanding items.
Coordinate project resources, including Engineers, Designers, Technologists, and external consultants.
Manage project schedules, budgets, invoicing, project costs, and financial performance.
Coordinate with municipalities, conservation authorities, utility companies, consultants, contractors, and other approval agencies.

Technical Design & Review

Review and provide technical direction on grading, drainage, servicing, stormwater management, and other civil engineering designs.
Review stormwater management and low-impact development (LID) designs and supporting documentation.
Review erosion and sediment control plans, construction staging plans, earthworks, and 3D surface comparisons.
Review engineering drawings, technical reports, specifications, and other project deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable standards.
Contribute to technical design and drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D as required.

Leadership and Development

Review work prepared by Designers, Engineers, and other project team members to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing, accountability, and continuous learning.
Mentor and support junior and intermediate Designers and Engineers in their technical and professional development.
Delegate tasks effectively based on project needs, staff experience, and development opportunities.

What You Bring:

Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
7+ years of relevant civil engineering/land development experience with demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules and staff.
Eng. or C.E.T. designation is required.
Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering design and construction practices in the GTA.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and the ability to review and contribute to detailed civil engineering designs.
Strong client management and communication skills.

What We Offer:

Competitive compensation package
10 Sick/Personal Days
Holiday Closure – Company closes over the holidays, providing 3.5 bonus vacation days
Comprehensive benefits package
$1000 Health Spending Account
$500 Lifestyle Spending Account
RRSP Matching
Mentorship & Leadership Opportunities – Opportunities to mentor, coach, and support the professional development of Engineers and Designers
Tuition Reimbursement
Monthly Social Events
Exposure to a wide range of land development and municipal engineering projects.
A collaborative, supportive, and team-oriented work environment.

Why Join Urbantech?

This is an opportunity to take on a leadership role within a growing land development team, where you can combine your technical expertise with project management and people leadership.

In this role, you will:

Own projects from start to finish, from initial concept through approvals and construction.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, municipalities, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Lead and mentor Designers and Engineers while helping develop the next generation of technical talent.
Have a meaningful role in technical decision-making and project direction.
Continue to use your technical expertise while developing your leadership and project management skills.
Work on a diverse portfolio of residential and land development projects.
Be part of a collaborative and entrepreneurial team where your experience and ideas are valued.

We are looking for someone who is technically strong, organized, proactive, accountable, and an effective leader. The ideal candidate enjoys both the technical and people-management sides of engineering and is motivated by seeing projects successfully move from concept to completion.

Urbantech welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates participating in all aspects of the selection process.
