Our Distribution group is currently looking to add a Utilities Labourer to our team, based in Sherwood Park, AB.
Reporting to the Lead Hand, we are seeking an experienced construction Labourer to help install shallow-utilities (power, gas and telecommunications) in new subdivisions in and around the Edmonton area. This position requires the ability to work long hours working outdoors, working as a cohesive group.

Reporting to the Lead Hand, we are seeking an experienced construction Labourer to help install shallow-utilities (power, gas and telecommunications) in new subdivisions in and around the Edmonton area. This position requires the ability to work long hours working outdoors, working as a cohesive group.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Set telecom peds, precast bases, sanding trench, moving material
- Lay power cable, telecom pipe, gas pipe in trenches up to 1.5m deep
- Operate jumping-jacks, and other handheld or portable equipment
- Operate skidsteer and backhoe at times safely onsite
- Read and understand construction drawings for specific tasks given
- Complete time sheets, vehicle pre-trip inspections and other paperwork as assigned
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors
- Experience in a team-oriented construction environment
- Must have a valid Class-5 driver's license and an acceptable drivers abstract
- Must have own vehicle to get to site
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work outside for extended periods of time
- Must be flexible to working varying hours
- Strong team member with a positive attitude

Responsibilities
Install shallow power, gas, and telecommunications utilities in new subdivisions, including laying cables and pipes, setting telecommunications pedestals and precast bases, and preparing trenches. Operate construction equipment safely, interpret drawings, complete required paperwork and inspections, and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
Candidates need experience in a team-oriented construction environment, a valid Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record, and their own transportation to job sites. They must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors for extended periods, work varying hours, and contribute positively as part of a team.
