Original job description

Ready to build a rewarding career in an industry that is growing?

Who We Are

We are a global mining company dedicated to safely delivering nickel, copper, cobalt, and platinum group metals essential for the world’s energy transition.

Our mission is to improve lives and shape a better future together.

From utensils to cellphones to satellites, our operations simplify daily life and enhance connectivity. Our metals are integral to life-saving medical equipment and the electric vehicles driving the fight against climate change – our work truly matters.

Join our diverse team of 15,000 talented individuals committed to transforming critical minerals into prosperity and sustainable development in countries like Canada, Brazil, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and Japan. We invite you to use your skills with us and contribute to something meaningful and enduring.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an IT Specialist – Finance to join our Information Technology team in Toronto, Ontario.

This is a permanent position, on Monday to Friday schedule, working a hybrid between the Toronto office and a home office.

In this role as an IT Specialist – Finance function, you strategically align technology with financial and corporate objectives across core Finance domains such as Record‑to‑Report, procure‑to‑Pay, Order‑to‑Cash, FP&A, Treasury, and Compliance. This is not a traditional IT delivery role, but a business partnership role focused on shaping demand, guiding technology investment decisions, and ensuring IT initiatives deliver measurable business value.

Leveraging strong Finance process expertise and a deep understanding of business planning, controls, and performance management, you act as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership - pairing practical Finance knowledge with a strong grasp of enterprise systems, digital platforms, and data‑enabled solutions. You ensure technology investments genuinely support Finance priorities, enable efficient and compliant operations, and align with long‑term strategic objectives while strengthening governance, risk management, and cross‑functional collaboration.

This role is ideal for someone seeking a new challenge who thrives in collaborative, stakeholder‑facing environments and enjoys influencing outcomes through partnership rather than authority, balancing strategic thinking with execution discipline.

Additionally, in this position you will work in:

Collaborate with Finance leadership and process owners to define IT strategies and multi‑year roadmaps, ensuring alignment with Finance strategy, enterprise priorities, and planning cycles.
Translate Finance business needs into structured IT initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, control, insight, and scalability, from business case development through value realization.
Lead the intake, structuring, prioritization, and sequencing of Finance IT demand, ensuring transparency and alignment across initiatives, enhancements, and continuous improvement.
Support OPEX and CAPEX planning, ensuring clear traceability between business demands, cost estimates, funding decisions, and delivered outcomes.
Act as the primary liaison between the Finance function and the Technology organization, promoting shared accountability for prioritization decisions, constraint management, and effective system usage.
Promote adherence to IT and financial governance frameworks; proactively identify risks, dependencies, and critical impacts, supporting mitigation strategies across Finance initiatives.
Champion the adoption of standardized, best‑in‑class Finance processes through automation, analytics, and workflow optimization to reduce manual effort and improve decision‑making.
Partner with Finance teams to document, analyze, and improve end‑to‑end workflows that interact with core Finance systems.
Stakeholder Engagement: Embed with Finance teams to understand operational challenges and strategic priorities, ensuring technology solutions are fit‑for‑purpose, scalable, and predictable for the business.

About You

You are a business‑oriented professional with strong Finance domain knowledge and a passion for using technology to drive meaningful business outcomes. You bring a solid understanding of corporate Finance processes and how they connect end‑to‑end, coupled with the ability to translate business priorities into clear, structured technology initiatives.
You are comfortable working in complex, global environments, engaging with BPOs, senior leadership, and cross‑functional teams to influence direction, align priorities, and enable effective decision‑making. You thrive in ambiguity, using evidence, structure, and collaboration to bring clarity and momentum.
You have a strong appreciation for digital transformation, enterprise systems, and data‑driven decision‑making. While not a traditional IT delivery role, you enjoy acting as the bridge between Finance and Technology - ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with best‑in‑class processes.
You value governance, transparency, and predictability, and you understand how disciplined demand, portfolio, and budget management supports better business outcomes. You are execution‑focused, embrace agile and incremental delivery approaches, and seek to continuously improve how work gets done.
Most importantly, you are a trusted partner - someone who builds credibility through understanding, collaboration, and follow‑through, influencing outcomes through partnership rather than authority.

Experience

Solid understanding of end-to-end Finance processes and their interdependencies, with the ability to navigate key stages and interfaces across:

- Record to Report (Accounting and Financial Close)
- Order to Cash (Sales, Billing, and Receivables)
- Procure to Pay (Procurement and Payments)
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Treasury
- Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
Proven experience working with integrated enterprise processes and corporate systems, particularly within large, complex organizations undergoing digital and business transformation.
Strong experience operating at the intersection of Finance and Technology, leveraging enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP and related management systems) to translate business requirements into scalable, standardized solutions.
Demonstrated capability in understanding, documenting, and improving end to end business processes, balancing operational needs with governance, control, and architectural integrity.
Experience partnering with Business Process Owners (BPOs) and senior leaders, influencing priorities and decisions through structured analysis, transparency, and collaboration.
Track record of effectiveness in global and multicultural environments, supporting alignment between corporate functions and regional or operational teams.
Previous experience within corporate Finance roles, contributing to planning, reporting, controls, or transformation initiatives in enterprise settings.
Working knowledge of agile and incremental delivery models, including MVP based execution, applied pragmatically within enterprise governance frameworks.
Experience supporting demand, portfolio, budget, or Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) processes, serving as a single point of coordination between Finance stakeholders and Technology teams.

Education

MBA or Postgraduate degree in Management, Business, Finance, Technology, or a closely related field (preferred).
Professional certifications related to Finance, digital transformation, enterprise systems, or portfolio management are considered an asset.

What We Offer You

Competitive compensation including a variable annual incentive plan
Participation in a competitive Defined Contribution Pension package
Comprehensive benefits package (company paid core coverage, health and dental coverage, flex accounts, disability plans, and optional insurances)
Leave for all of life’s reasons (vacation, personal, sick, parental)
Work culture dedicated to safety, diversity & inclusion, and career growth
Employee Family Assistance Program
Virtual Healthcare online
Online training and career development opportunities
