Summary

Valnet is hiring a Director of Performance Marketing to lead and scale paid acquisition across our portfolio of digital products. This role owns the performance marketing function end to end: strategy, team, budgets, partners, and results, with direct accountability for growth, efficiency, and unit economics at the portfolio level.

The role is best suited for a senior performance marketer who has built and led high-performing teams, still operates close to the numbers, and can move fluidly between setting multi-product strategy and diving into account-level detail. You will report to senior leadership and partner closely with product, content, etc. to turn paid acquisition into a durable, compounding growth engine.

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance marketing strategy and roadmap across Valnet's digital product portfolio, aligned with business and product-level growth targets.
  • Build, lead, and develop a team of performance marketing managers and specialists, setting clear goals, coaching on execution, and raising the bar for analytical rigor.
  • Own portfolio-level paid acquisition across paid search (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads) and expand into paid social, native, and other channels where unit economics support it.
  • Set and manage annual and quarterly budgets, forecasts, and performance targets, allocating spend across products and channels to maximize contribution margin and ROI.
  • Define the KPI framework and reporting cadence for the function, including CAC, LTV, ROAS, revenue per lead, and payback, and present performance and insights to senior leadership.
  • Own strategic relationships with lead generation partners, marketplaces, and ad platforms, including negotiating terms, managing partner performance, and identifying new monetization opportunities.
  • Establish a structured experimentation program across funnels, landing pages, creative, audiences, and bidding strategies, and ensure learnings are documented and scaled across products.
  • Partner with data and engineering teams to ensure accurate conversion tracking, attribution, and data quality, and to prioritize acquisition-related features such as forms, landing pages, and tracking implementations.
  • Collaborate with content and SEO leadership to align paid and organic strategy, sharing performance insights that inform content priorities and product direction.
  • Stay ahead of platform changes, privacy and regulatory developments, and industry trends, and adapt strategy proactively.
  • Remain hands-on when needed, stepping into accounts to diagnose issues, validate opportunities, and model best practices for the team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in performance or growth marketing, including at least 4 years leading teams with direct ownership of paid media outcomes.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in paid search at scale (Google Ads and Microsoft Ads), with working knowledge of paid social and other acquisition channels.
  • Proven track record owning multi-million dollar annual budgets with clear accountability for ROI, efficiency, and profitable growth.
  • Experience setting strategy across multiple products, brands, or business lines, and allocating spend based on unit economics.
  • Strong analytical capability with fluency in GA4, Looker Studio or similar BI tools, and advanced spreadsheet modeling; comfort with SQL is an asset.
  • Expert understanding of conversion tracking, attribution models, incrementality testing, and data quality tradeoffs.
  • Track record of building experimentation and CRO programs that measurably improved funnel performance.
  • Experience managing lead generation partners, marketplaces, or affiliate relationships, including commercial negotiation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with senior leadership, translating performance data into business decisions.
  • Comfortable in fast-moving, performance-driven environments with minimal process overhead.
  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and content strategy is an asset.
  • Experience in insurance, finance, or regulated lead generation verticals is a strong asset.
