Original job description
Come work as a Plastic Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
The Department of Surgery is looking for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Plastic Surgeon to join our existing group and provide surgical services at Lions Gate Hospital and the Sea to Sky corridor. Fellowship training in craniofacial surgery and/or breast surgery is desired but not required.
It is expected that the applicant will have a strong interest in general community plastic surgery including skin cancer management, hand/wrist and craniofacial trauma, complex wound care, and general body and breast surgery. The ideal candidate is expected to work collegially and collaboratively within the existing group of five plastic surgeons.
The candidate will also support call coverage for all acute care sites within the Coastal Community of Care. General plastic surgery call is expected to be 1 in 5 for full time members and a MOCAP agreement provides an on call stipend.
Lions Gate Hospital is a recognized Level 3 trauma centre and a key acute care provider for a population exceeding 270,000 residents across the North Shore and Sea-to-Sky Country. We are rapidly expanding with the upcoming new Medical and Surgical Centre, which will further establish LGH as a specialized regional facility. There is a closed ICU, full anesthesia support, interventional radiology and supporting surgical specialties including plastics and urology on site. Our new facilities, including the Paul Myers Tower with 108 private patient rooms and eight new operating rooms, ensures we remain at the forefront of healthcare delivery in the VCH region. Plastic surgery resources include access to scheduled and emergency OR time, minor procedure room, hand clinic, and a wound care clinic.
The Division of Plastic Surgery is affiliated with the University of British Columbia's Plastic Surgery residency training program, as well as the Family Practice residency program. All surgeons are involved in teaching residents and medical students during their rotations at Lions Gate Hospital.
We are committed to building a representative workforce and encourage applications reflecting diversity of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, racialization or ancestry, visible or invisible disability, political belief, religion, marital or family status, age, and/or status as a First Nation, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous person.
Interested in applying? Feel free to reach out to Stephanie Barnes, Medical Staff Talent Acquisition Advisor: medstaffcareers@vch.ca or click “Apply Now.”
Please note that a resume and cover letter are required to apply for this position.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
