Original job description
Are you familiar with the production floor? Do you enjoy understanding how things are made and finding practical solutions? At Vanlife Campers, we’re looking for a hands-on, organized person to serve as the bridge between our design and engineering team and our production team.
Your Role
Translate the design team’s concepts into clear, practical work methods that can be applied on the shop floor. You’ll play a direct role in integrating new layouts, resolving assembly issues, and maintaining reliable manufacturing documentation.
This role combines hands-on shop floor work, technical collaboration, and office-based tasks.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Prepare and update manufacturing and assembly procedures, work instructions, and visual aids.
- Support the production team during the integration of new designs, components, and mechanisms.
- Keep bill of materials (BOMs), material lists, and parts lists up to date as soon as a change is approved.
- Coordinate changes originating from production or design, ensuring they are tracked and communicated to the relevant teams.
- Participate directly in testing, adjustments, and troubleshooting on the production floor.
- Report manufacturing challenges and opportunities for improvement to the engineering team, providing clear and concrete information.
- Collaborate with teams to make work methods simpler, more efficient, and more reproducible.
Exigences
The Ideal Candidate
We are open to two types of backgrounds:
Someone with relevant technical training and solid hands-on experience in manufacturing or assembly.
Someone with experience in production, cabinetmaking, or assembly who wishes to transition into a role more focused on methods, documentation, and technical coordination, while remaining closely involved on the shop floor.
What Will Make the Difference
A good understanding of production realities, particularly in cabinetmaking and/or assembly.
Comfort working with blueprints, technical details, and the assembly of mechanisms.
A natural inclination to roll up your sleeves to understand a problem and help solve it.
Attention to detail to keep parts lists and documents up to date.
The ability to listen, explain complex concepts in simple terms, and communicate effectively with production and design teams.
Proficiency with computer tools and a willingness to develop your skills.
