About the Role

We're looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to own quality at our Oakville facility. This is a hands-on leadership role on a small, growing team. Today, you'll set and enforce the quality standard across production, assembly, and test. Over time, you'll build the quality system, processes, and people that let us scale without compromising the reliability our customers depend on.

You'll hold our products and processes to the standard expected of a leading energy-equipment manufacturer, and you'll own the data that proves it.

Role Overview

You'll own Verdyn's quality management system and product quality from incoming material to shipment and into the field. You'll lead root cause and corrective action, drive compliance with certification and product standards, and partner with engineering and production so quality is designed in and built in, not inspected in at the end.

Key Responsibilities

Quality System & Compliance

Build, maintain, and continuously improve our quality management system (QMS), aligned to ISO 9001.
Own document control, quality records, and the standards for work instructions, inspection plans, and test procedures.
Ensure products meet applicable certification and product standards (CSA/UL, IEC), and serve as the primary contact for certification bodies, factory inspections, and field evaluations.
Plan and lead internal audits, and host external, certification, and customer audits.

Inspection, Test & Product Quality

Define and manage inspection and test plans across incoming, in-process, and final stages, including functional and electrical testing.
Own quality KPIs such as first-pass yield, defect rates, nonconformances, cost of poor quality, and customer returns, and report performance in Microsoft 365.
Run the nonconformance and material review process, and lead root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, fishbone) and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) through to verified closure.
Maintain the calibration program for test and measurement equipment.
Track nonconformances, inspections, and quality data in our custom internal ERP.

Supplier & Customer Quality

Partner with supply chain on supplier qualification, incoming inspection, and supplier corrective actions.
Investigate customer complaints, field failures, and RMAs, and drive fixes back into design and process.
Support customer factory acceptance testing (FAT) and witness tests, and prepare quality documentation packages for shipments.

Engineering, NPI & Production Partnership

Partner with engineering on design-for-manufacturing and new product introduction (NPI), including PFMEAs, control plans, first article inspection, and process validation.
Work alongside production to build quality in at the source, and train the floor on workmanship standards, inspection criteria, and quality procedures.

Team & Culture

Hire, lead, and develop the quality team as we grow.
Champion a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the plant.

Qualifications Required

5+ years in quality assurance or quality engineering in a manufacturing environment, including leadership responsibility.
A track record of building or scaling a quality system with measurable results in yield, defect reduction, or customer quality.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, root cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, and quality KPIs.
A hands-on, floor-present style. You build systems and culture, not just paperwork.
Comfort with custom ERP systems and Microsoft 365.
Strong self-management and the ability to work independently to timelines.

Preferred

Electromechanical or electronics/power-hardware manufacturing experience.
Experience managing product certification to CSA/UL and IEC standards.
Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620).
ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, or CMQ/OE), ISO 9001 lead auditor training, or Six Sigma certification.
Experience supporting NPI and the transition from prototype to production.
Experience building a QMS in a growing or startup manufacturing environment.
Experience in a high-reliability manufacturing environment (energy, industrial, automotive, aerospace).
