Business Development Lead

Verlo is looking for a driven, relationship-focused Business Development Lead to build and lead the systems that create new commercial opportunities. This person will oversee Verlo’s outbound efforts and events strategy, helping turn thoughtful outreach and high-quality in-person moments into a durable pipeline of customers and partners.

You’ll be equally comfortable setting strategy and getting into the details: defining target segments, improving outreach, coordinating events, following up quickly, and learning from every conversation. If you enjoy creating momentum from a blank page and working closely across teams, we’d love to meet you.

What you’ll do

Own Verlo’s outbound business development function, from strategy and targeting through outreach, qualification, follow-up, and reporting.
Build and refine repeatable outbound processes across email, LinkedIn, calls, partnerships, and other relevant channels.
Identify and prioritize high-potential prospects, strategic partners, and market opportunities.
Develop clear messaging and campaigns tailored to priority audiences.
Plan and execute Verlo’s events strategy, including industry conferences, hosted events, partner activations, and smaller relationship-building gatherings.
Manage event logistics, budgets, vendor and partner coordination, attendee outreach, and post-event follow-up.
Work closely with leadership, marketing, and sales to ensure outbound and events activity supports company goals and creates qualified pipeline.
Maintain accurate reporting on activity, conversion, pipeline, event performance, and lessons learned.
Bring market feedback and customer insights back to the team to sharpen Verlo’s positioning and go-to-market approach.
Help shape the foundation of Verlo’s business development organization as the company grows.

What you’ll bring

Experience in business development, sales development, partnerships, growth, or a related go-to-market role.
A track record of building pipeline through proactive, thoughtful outbound work.
Experience planning and delivering events that create meaningful business outcomes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor a message to different audiences.
Excellent organization and follow-through; you can manage many moving pieces without losing sight of the goal.
Comfort working in an early-stage, fast-moving environment where priorities evolve and initiative matters.
A data-informed mindset and the ability to turn activity and results into practical improvements.
Genuine curiosity, strong relationship instincts, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.

Nice to have

Experience working at a startup or in a high-growth environment.
Familiarity with CRM, sales engagement, and event-management tools.
Experience selling into or building relationships within Verlo’s target market.
