Creative Web Designer (Figma) | Front-End Development Skills

We’re looking for a talented Web Designer with front-end development skills who has a strong creative eye, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for creating modern, engaging websites.

This is a design-first position. We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves design, understands what makes a website visually exciting, and knows how to bring creative ideas to life.

We’re a small, collaborative team based in St. Albert, Alberta. While this is a hybrid contractor position with flexibility to work remotely, you’ll need to be available to work from our St. Albert office when projects or team collaboration require it.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing beautiful, modern, responsive websites using Figma.

• Creating original website layouts, visual concepts, and user-friendly experiences.

• Translating client brands and business goals into thoughtful, engaging website designs.

• Developing websites from approved designs using our proprietary Site Engine platform (training provided).

• Editing, updating, and maintaining existing websites.

• Working closely with our creative, development, and project management team.

• Ensuring websites look and function beautifully across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

• Paying close attention to typography, spacing, colour, imagery, consistency, and the little details that make a design stand out.

What we’re looking for

Must-haves:

• Strong experience designing websites in Figma.

• A portfolio demonstrating creative, professional website designs.

• An excellent eye for visual design, layout, typography, and user experience.

• Experience designing responsive websites for desktop and mobile.

• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic front-end development.

• Ability to make updates and modifications to existing websites.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

• Ability to attend our St. Albert office as needed.

Nice to have:

• Experience with JavaScript.

• Experience with CMS platforms or visual website builders.

• Knowledge of website performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices.

• Experience working with branding guidelines and design systems.

• Experience translating Figma designs into functioning websites.

About our platform

Most of our new websites are built using Site Engine, our proprietary website platform.

You don’t need previous experience with Site Engine. We’ll provide training. What matters most is your ability to create outstanding designs and understand how those designs translate into functioning websites.
