Original job description
Position: Medical Imaging Manager
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Location: This position is based at VHH’s Saskatoon office with a planned office relocation to Whitecap, SK in Spring 2027
The Opportunity
Help reshape access to diagnostic imaging across Saskatchewan.
What if the distance between a patient and the diagnostic imaging they need did not have to be a barrier to care?
At Virtual Health Hub, we are using technology and clinical innovation to bring diagnostic imaging closer to home for people living in rural, remote and northern Saskatchewan communities. Our Medical Imaging Program is already delivering telerobotic ultrasound and remote X-ray services, with plans to expand into remotely operated CT and MRI.
We are looking for a Medical Imaging Manager who is excited by the opportunity to help build what comes next.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, you will lead a team and the day-to-day operations and continued development of the Medical Imaging Program while helping translate innovative technology into safe, sustainable and clinically sound practice. You will work across clinical, operational and project environments to support service delivery, program growth and new initiatives. You will support approaches to services implementation that respect Indigenous community authority, cultural protocols, relationship-building processes, and community-defined understanding of culturally safe care.
You are a collaborative, solutions-focused leader with strong cultural humility, clinical judgment, operational awareness, a genuine interest in innovation, and demonstrated experience working respectfully and effectively with Indigenous Peoples, communities, organizations, or health systems.
What makes this opportunity unique?
- Shape the future of diagnostic imaging: Help develop and expand innovative models of remote imaging, including future CT and MRI capabilities.
- Work in partnership with Indigenous communities: Our services are delivered across remote and northern Saskatchewan, including in many Indigenous communities. This role offers an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and contribute to care that is responsive to community context, priorities and ways of working. Cultural humility and a commitment to respectful, relationship-based care are essential to how we approach this work.
- Make a tangible difference: Support improved access to timely diagnostic imaging for people and communities where geography and distance can create significant barriers to care.
- Lead while staying connected to practice: Balance people and program leadership and operational responsibilities with hands-on work as a medical imaging technologist when required.
- Turn innovation into practice: Help ensure new technologies, processes and pilot initiatives are implemented in ways that are safe, effective and sustainable, while ensuring that technological innovation does not override community priorities, relationships and culturally safe approaches to care.
- Work across disciplines and communities: Collaborate with clinical teams, technology partners, physicians, community partners and other partners to bring new ideas to life.
- Help build something: This is an opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and evolution of a developing program rather than simply stepping into an established model.
If you are a medical imaging professional and experienced people leader who wants to combine clinical practice, leadership and innovation – and have a direct role in improving access to care in rural and remote Saskatchewan – we would like to hear from you.
What You’ll Bring
- Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare or medical imaging environment.
- Professional background in medical imaging, such as MRT, sonography or an equivalent discipline.
- Eligibility for registration and practice in Saskatchewan.
- Experience in medical imaging operations, clinical service delivery, project management or service implementation.
- Experience coaching, developing and supporting staff.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety, cultural humility and the impacts of anti-Indigenous racism and colonial health systems on Indigenous Peoples’ experiences of healthcare.
- Ability to work respectfully across differing Indigenous community contexts, recognizing that communities have distinct governance structures, protocols, priorities and approaches to healthcare.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships through listening, reciprocity, accountability and follow-through rather than approaching community engagement as consultation alone.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining safe, high-quality service delivery.
- Adaptability and comfortability working in a growing and evolving environment.
- Curiosity, an innovative mind-set and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to balance people leadership responsibilities with hands-on clinical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in rural, remote or northern healthcare environments.
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Indigenous health landscape, including experience working with First Nations and/or Métis health systems, community health services, Tribal Councils, Indigenous health organizations or Indigenous-led healthcare initiatives.
- Experience working respectfully and effectively with First Nations, Métis and/or Indigenous communities, organizations, health services or patients.
- Experience working with Indigenous-led, community-led or partnership-based healthcare initiatives.
- Experience with remote or virtual diagnostic imaging models.
- Experience supporting clinical research or pilot programs.
