Permanent | Full-time | Property Services – VMCH

Locations: John R Hannah (Mulgrave)

VMCH is a Catholic, for-purpose organisation providing aged care, disability services, retirement living, home care, specialist education and affordable housing across Victoria. With more than 100 years of experience, our workforce of 4,000-plus staff and volunteers are dedicated to supporting 15,000+ people primarily in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Our Property Services team plays a vital role in ensuring our buildings remain safe, welcoming and fit‑for‑purpose for residents, clients and staff.

We are now seeking a Maintenance Officer to join our Property Asset Management team. If you’re proactive, customer‑focused and experienced in facilities maintenance, this role offers variety, autonomy and the chance to make a meaningful impact every day.

It’s the people at VMCH that bring the positives.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll coordinate and complete maintenance activities across designated VMCH sites, acting as a key contact for facilities matters. Your day will include:

Coordinating contractor inductions and supporting preventative/reactive maintenance
Managing reactive work orders for building fabric, finishes and fixed assets
Monitoring and reporting asset downtime through PAMS (CMMS)
Completing, closing and signing off maintenance events and schedules
Conducting asset condition audits, tagging and monitoring
Providing ad‑hoc site support, including spot cleaning when required
Building strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and residents
Ensuring compliance with VMCH policies, safe work practices and legislative requirements

You will bring

Background in building and facilities maintenance
Knowledge of fire systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security and lighting
Strong communication and customer service skills
Excellent time management and ability to juggle competing priorities
Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
Problem‑solving skills and a calm, practical approach
Experience in Aged Care or Retirement Living (highly regarded)

Desirable

Trade qualification
Experience using a CMMS
Exposure to BMS or AV systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office

What’s Possible

Rewarding work, within a supportive environment
Professional development and career progression opportunities
Competitive salary + salary package (with potential for increased take-home pay)
Flexible, family friendly work culture
Well-being initiatives and paid parental leave
Employee assistance program (EAP) for you and close family members, with confidential counselling if ever needed (incl. personal assistance)
Discounts on private health insurance, school holiday programs and car hire
Open a high-interest savings account via our banking partner (optional)
Enjoy access to Fitness Passport, helping you and your family stay active with discounted entry to hundreds of fitness and recreation venues.

Please note successful applicants to this position will be required to provide evidence of relevant work permits or Australian residency, and relevant screening checks. Kindly note we do not accept unsolicited resumes, emails and phone calls from Recruitment Agencies.

Apply today and join us where your work genuinely improves the daily lives of others.
