Reporting to the Superintendent, the Underground Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of crews, equipment, and work activities related to underground watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer construction. This role plays a critical part in ensuring work is completed safely, productively, and in compliance with project specifications, municipal standards, and company expectations.

How You’ll Add Value

Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
Lead, supervise, and mentor underground crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of water, sewer, and storm work
Plan and coordinate daily work activities, manpower, equipment, and materials to meet production targets and schedules
Oversee installation of watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer including trenching, bedding, pipe installation, jointing, backfill, and compaction
Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, municipal standards, and QA/QC requirements
Conduct daily tailgate meetings, hazard assessments, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Managers, inspectors, and subcontractors to resolve field issues and maintain project progress
Monitor productivity and quality, identifying and addressing issues that could impact schedule, cost, or safety
Ensure proper use, care, and basic maintenance of tools, equipment, and company assets
Maintain accurate daily records including timesheets, production tracking, and site documentation
Lead by example in professionalism, accountability, and respect, fostering a positive and engaged crew culture

What You Bring

5+ years of underground construction, with direct experience in water, sewer and storm infrastructure
3+ years of experience as a Foreman overseeing underground crews
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
Strong understanding of deep excavations, trench safety, shoring and working around live services
Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed

Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.

Responsibilities

Requirements
