The position will also lead facility implementation of VoltaGrid Manufacturing's Critical Risk Management program, ensuring critical risks are identified and that critical controls are implemented, understood, and effective where work is performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Rosedale facility's Health & Safety program and support implementation of VoltaGrid Manufacturing H&S expectations, procedures, and training.
  • Partner with facility leadership and employees to strengthen a proactive safety culture.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and provide practical H&S guidance to employees and leaders.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable British Columbia occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain COR certification and audit performance, including internal and external audit readiness and corrective-action follow-up.
  • Lead implementation and ongoing management of VoltaGrid Manufacturing's Critical Risk Management program.
  • Identify critical and high-consequence risks and verify that critical controls are implemented and effective.
  • Support JSAs/JHAs, risk assessments, workplace inspections, and management-of-change activities.
  • Promote and reinforce Stop Work Authority when conditions or controls are not adequate to perform work safely.
  • Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action management.
  • Provide H&S leadership for manufacturing risks including LOTO/hazardous energy, machine guarding, electrical safety, material handling, ergonomics, powered industrial equipment and pedestrian interaction, fall prevention, WHMIS, PPE, contractor activities, and hot work.
  • Coordinate health and safety training, orientation, and competency requirements.
  • Support facility emergency preparedness and drills.
  • Monitor leading and lagging H&S indicators and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Share lessons learned and effective practices across VoltaGrid Manufacturing facilities.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive health and safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing or comparable industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable British Columbia occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with health and safety management systems, regulatory compliance, audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective-action management.
  • Experience supporting Certificate of Recognition (COR) programs and audits strongly preferred.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred, or the ability to obtain the designation.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage critical risks and evaluate the effectiveness of critical controls.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of a manufacturing organization.
  • Ability to maintain a regular presence on the manufacturing floor and effectively support a hands-on manufacturing environment.

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification. All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.
