Original job description
About Voltera
Voltera is a rapidly scaling and profitable Canadian tech company that has been driving change in the additive electronics industry since 2013. Our customers span 92 countries and use our products to improve quality of life and push the boundaries of what electronics can do. From developing electronics skin to exploring space, our products support some of the world’s most exciting engineering endeavors.
Our first product, the V-One PCB printer, integrates drilling through-holes, printing conductive materials, dispensing solder paste, and reflowing circuits to enable fast iteration of circuit board designs. Our second product, the NOVA materials dispensing system, offers precision dispensing of functional materials on both flexible and rigid substrates for flexible hybrid electronics prototyping and materials research.
As we continue to tackle new challenges, we are looking for ambitious, talented individuals to join the adventure. We are a tight-knit, mission-driven team. You will be supported by people who care, challenged to grow, and trusted to make a real impact.
About the Job
- As a Technical Sales Representative, your days will involve driving innovation by creating and managing customer and industry relationships and showcasing the value of our products to engineers, academics, and researchers within SMBs, Enterprise companies and educational institutions.
- You will build strong relationships with our users through virtual meetings, calls, and emails. You will bridge the gap between their application and the value Voltera provides.
- You will collaborate with sales, product, and marketing teams to improve sales conversations and internal collateral generation.
- We strive to build and maintain a collaborative team culture. We cover and look out for each other, share our successes and failures, and continuously innovate to find processes and strategies.
- Manage leads coming in through both inbound and outbound channels to achieve sales targets and maximize revenue potential.
- Engage with potential customers through proactive prospecting and outbound activities such as cold-calling and email campaigns to generate new business opportunities.
Working conditions
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET
- Some international travel may be required to attend trade shows and roadshows.
About You
- Experience managing B2B sales opportunities from initial contact through to close, ideally with technical products.
- You have excellent communication skills. You actively listen, ask thoughtful questions, and explain technical concepts in a way that connects with the customer’s needs.
- You are highly organized with strong attention to detail. You maintain accurate CRM records, keep clear next steps, and follow through consistently so opportunities do not slip through the cracks.
- You are a self-starter who manages time efficiently, prioritizes tasks, and takes ownership while balancing dozens of active customer conversations.
- You are comfortable picking up the phone, initiating conversations, and building relationships with new customers.
- You are naturally empathetic and can connect with all types of people.
- You are motivated by results, receptive to coaching, and willing to learn from both wins and losses.
- You are naturally curious and have a strong aptitude for learning about technology.
- You have demonstrated success against sales targets or other measurable goals in a previous role.
Nice to haves
- Experience working with the following tech stack: Shopify, Slack, NetSuite, and HubSpot.
- Experience selling to engineers and researchers in laboratory settings.
Why We’re Awesome
- We’re a scaling company - you’re hired to have a voice, not to be a cog.
- Three weeks' vacation to start, plus a paid end-of-year company shutdown.
- Flexible work hours.
- Family-friendly work culture.
- Collaborative work environment.
- Located in the growing tech hub of Waterloo, Ontario, close to restaurants and easily accessible by public transit.
If this sounds like a good fit, reach out! We’d love to hear from you.
