Organization: AFIWI Groove School

AFIWI Groove School is a community-based not-for-profit organization that uses dance, drumming, arts, culture and leadership development to create meaningful opportunities for children, youth and the broader community.

AFIWI is seeking an organized, outgoing and relationship-focused Community Event Coordinator to help expand our performance, workshop, educational and community engagement opportunities.

The Community Event Coordinator will research and develop opportunities for AFIWI artists, youth performers and cultural programs with festivals, schools, school boards, community organizations, cultural events, corporate partners and other organizations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, building relationships and helping turn opportunities into successful bookings and partnerships..

The coordinator will play an important role in expanding Afiwi Groove School’s visibility, bookings, and community impact through strategic outreach and relationship-building.

Key Responsibilities

Research and identify performance, workshop and event opportunities for AFIWI programs and performers.

Conduct outreach to festivals, schools, school boards, cultural organizations, community groups, corporations and event organizers.

Introduce and promote AFIWI's performances, workshops and cultural programming to potential partners.

Communicate with prospective partners through email, telephone, networking and community outreach.

Build and maintain positive relationships with schools, organizations, event planners and community partners.

Follow up on leads and support the development of new partnerships and bookings.

Assist with coordinating confirmed performances, workshops and community events.

Maintain schedules and communicate booking details with instructors, performers and the AFIWI team.

Support the preparation of proposals, promotional materials, artist information and performance packages.

Track outreach activity, potential opportunities, follow-ups, confirmed bookings and partnership development.

Assist with event logistics and coordination when required.

Work collaboratively with the AFIWI team to increase community visibility and grow performance and educational programming opportunities.

Represent AFIWI professionally and positively when communicating with community and external partners.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be confident communicating with people and comfortable developing new relationships on behalf of a community organization.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is

Passionate about arts, culture, youth engagement and community development.

Friendly, professional and comfortable initiating conversations with new contacts.

A strong communicator with good networking and relationship-building skills.

Organized, proactive and able to follow opportunities from initial outreach through to booking.

Comfortable making telephone calls, sending professional emails and presenting program information.

Detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate records of contacts, leads and follow-up activities.

Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, online research, social media and basic digital communication tools.

Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with the AFIWI team.

Professional and dependable when representing AFIWI within the community.
