About This Opportunity
Surfrider South Vancouver Island, Executive Committee
Position type: 2 year commitment (10-15 hours/month)
Reports to: Executive Committee
Summary: As a Volunteer Retention and Engagement Coordinator you will be responsible in supporting the volunteer retention, satisfaction, and engagement in the chapter. Tasks include helping with hosting our year-end and other engagement get togethers, supporting volunteer growth and satisfaction, coordinator sign-up volunteers for events, and work with the other members of the volunteer coordination team to communicate volunteer updates and needs.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Shares the email address Volunteer@svi.surfrider.ca for surfrider communications & checks this chapter email account and replies to emails within 2-3 days.
- Attends most monthly meetings.
- Ensures there is a volunteer sign up sheet at all BCUs and other events, and emails volunteers after the event.
- Support in making changes to the volunteer spreadsheet/.
- Ensure volunteers are being matched with opportunities that work for them.
- Supports volunteer recognition and volunteer retainment.
- Identifies what training volunteers may need and communicates this with EC.
- Completes SF University in 3 months https://surfrider.ca/chapternet
- Contributes to the development of volunteers.
- Liaise with new and existing stakeholders, media, sponsors and partners
- Contributes content to monthly newsletter, core crew meetings, FB forums
- Attends Surfrider public meetings & events when available
- Joins/follows/likes; official Surfrider SVI Facebook page, public forum, Instagram feeds
Qualifications
- Familiar with all of Surfrider SVI programs & campaigns
- Becomes a Surfrider Foundation member
- Organized and can dedicate their time to accomplish monthly tasks
- Strong communicator, leader, team member, and public speaker
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Google docs & calendar, mailchimp and WordPress
- Uses popular social media: Facebook, Instagram
- Holds BC drivers license, has access to a vehicle and is willing to use their vehicle for chapter operations
